George Mallaby (actor)
George Mallaby (4 November 1939 – 12 July 2004) was an English-born actor and screenwriter, best known for his roles in television in Australia and in his latter career in his native England. Life Mallaby was born in Hartlepool, United Kingdom, and moved to Australia with his parents when he was 16. His father was a policeman. Mallaby's first jobs were signwriting and crayfishing. He was married to Ruth Bass in 1968 and they divorced in 1975. He suffered a stroke in 1994, and subsequently used a wheelchair. He died of congestive heart failure in 2004. He was survived by his widow Lenice, sons Guy and Luke, and daughter Kirsti from his first marriage. Career Mallaby made his acting debut at the Adelaide Festival of Arts, but soon obtained TV roles in Melbourne. Hartlepool
Hartlepool () is a seaside and port town in County Durham, England. It is the largest settlement and administrative centre of the Borough of Hartlepool. With an estimated population of 90,123, it is the second-largest settlement in County Durham. Hartlepool is locally administrated by Hartlepool Borough Council, a unitary authority which also administrates outlying villages of Seaton Carew, Greatham, Hart Village, Dalton Piercy and Elwick. Hartlepool was founded in the 7th century, around the monastery of Hartlepool Abbey. The village grew in the Middle Ages and its harbour served as the official port of the County Palatine of Durham. ''Secret Army'' is a British television drama made by the BBC and the Belgian national broadcaster BRT (now VRT) created by Gerard Glaister. It tells the story of a fictional Belgian resistance movement in German-occupied Belgium during the Second World War dedicated to returning Allied airmen, usually having been shot down by the Luftwaffe, to Great Britain. It was made in the UK and Belgium and three series were broadcast on BBC1 between 7 September 1977 and 15 December 1979. Stanford Mark Juddery (8 March 197113 January 2015) was an Australian freelance journalist, author, humorist and columnist for ''The Canberra Times''. His work also appeared in such newspapers as ''The Australian'' and ''The Sydney Morning Herald'', as well as a range of magazines including '' The Bulletin'', ''Empire'', '' Inside Sport'', ''Mad Magazine'' and ''Griffith Review''. He also wrote comedy sketches for radio and television, as well as several short comedy plays, which he directed and performed worldwide. Biography A movie critic and writer for several years, as well as a publicist for the National Film and Sound Archive, Juddery wrote an e-book guide to movie reviewing for Fabjob Books in 2003. Along with movies, popular culture and humor, much of his writing has revealed an interest in Eastern spirituality. The Highest Honor
''The Highest Honour'' is a 1982 Australian/Japanese co-production about Operation Jaywick and Operation Rimau by Z Special Unit during World War II. The same story inspired the TV mini-series ''The Heroes (mini-series), Heroes'' (1988) and ''Heroes II: The Return'' (1991). Plot During World War II, a team of Australian soldiers from Z Special Unit, including Ivan Lyon and Robert Page, successfully lead an expedition to destroy ships in Singapore harbour, Operation Jaywick. An attempt to duplicate this success, Operation Rimau, ends in disaster, with the team either killed or captured. These soldiers are interrogated by the Japanese in Singapore, with Page forming a friendship with Minoru Tamiya. Eventually all the Australians are convicted of war crimes and executed. The film also features Graham Kennedy playing himself, and Cornelia Frances in the key role of Dr. S. M. Winter, an efficiency expert brought in to improve operations at UCV-12. ''Cluedo'' is an Australian whodunnit game show based on the British series of the same name and inspired by the 1949 board game ''Cluedo.'' It was produced by Crawford Action Time (a collaboration of Crawford Productions and Action Time) in conjunction with Nine Network. The show saw a studio audience view a dramatised scenario, then complete rounds of interrogating the six suspects on stage in character and viewing further evidence through a pre-recorded criminal investigation. Players then deduced the solution to the murder case using a trio of computer-linked electronic dials (whodunnit, whatdunnit, and wheredunnit), and after the solution was revealed the first person who had locked-in this combination won a prize.
