George Lawton (footballer, Born 1862)
George Lawton (4 August 1862 – 1930) was an English association football, footballer who played in the English Football League, Football League for Stoke City F.C., Stoke. Career George Lawton joined Stoke St Peter's in 1884. In July 1885, he signed for Stoke City F.C., Stoke, playing in both FA Cup matches in the 1885–86 Stoke F.C. season, 1885–86 season as Stoke lost to Crewe Alexandra F.C., Crewe Alexandra in a Replay (sports), replay. In January 1886 he joined Potteries derby, nearby Port Vale F.C., Burslem Port Vale, where he scored three times in thirteen exhibition game, friendlies, before returning to Stoke in the May of that year. Stoke' major achievement from 1886 to 1888 was reaching the 1887–88 FA Cup Fifth Round. George Lawton (footballer, Born 1880)
George Lawton (born 1880; date of death unknown) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Stoke. Career Lawton was born in Tunstall, Staffordshire and joined Burslem Port Vale in April 1896. He made his debut at the Athletic Ground on 20 February 1897, in an 8–0 win over Grantham Rovers in the Midland League. He lost his first team place in October 1897, and left the club the following year. He then played for local amateur club Porthill. George Lawton (settler)
George Lawton (1607-1693) was an early settler of Portsmouth in the Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. Late in life Lawton became active in the affairs of the colony, and served for several years as both Deputy to the General Assembly, and Assistant to the governor. His house was sometimes used for meetings of colonial leaders and committees. He became such a highly esteemed member of the colony, that in 1676 he was one of 16 individuals whose counsel was requested by the General Assembly during the chaotic events of King Philip's War. Life Baptized in the parish of Cranfield in Bedfordshire, England on 23 September 1607, George Lawton was the oldest of eight children of George Lawton and Isabel Smith.
