George Gibson (footballer, Born 1903)
George Bennett Gibson (29 September 1903 – 1977) was a Scottish footballer who played as an inside forward. He began his senior career in Scotland with Dundee, but failed to claim a regular place and was loaned out to St Johnstone. After two seasons on Tayside, he joined hometown club Hamilton Academical (where his father Alex had once been club chairman)Gibson, George (1925) Hamilton Academical Memory Bank and became established as a highly talented player. The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981.
