George Chakhava
George Chakhava ( ka, გიორგი ჩახავა, 1923–2007) was a Georgian architect, best known for the Bank of Georgia headquarters in Tbilisi, which he co-designed with Zurab Jalaghania. George Chakhava was born in Tbilisi in 1923, and earned bachelor's degree in architecture from the Georgian Technical University in 1949. The Bank of Georgia headquarters in Tbilisi was originally built for the Ministry of Highway Construction of the Georgian SSR and finished in 1975, at a time when Chakhava was Georgia's Deputy Minister of Highway Construction. It became the headquarters of the Bank of Georgia in 2007. Chakhava co-designed Cafe Fantasy in Batumi, with Zurab Kapanadze, which opened in 1975, but has been closed since 2000. Café Fantasy ( ka, კაფე ფანტაზია ) or the Octopus (რვაფეხა ''rvapekha'') was a coffeehouse situated in the town of Batumi (the autonomous Republic of Adjara, Georgia), on the boulevard by the Black Sea, beside Shota Rustaveli State University. It used to face the old holiday house “Batumi”, recently replaced bHilton Batumi History The monument, which also functioned as a café, was designed by the Georgian architect George Chakhava and by , Professor at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. The Bank of Georgia headquarters ( ka, საქართველოს ბანკის სათავო ოფისი) is a building in Tbilisi, Georgia. The USSR State Prize (russian: links=no, Государственная премия СССР, Gosudarstvennaya premiya SSSR) was the Soviet Union's state honor. It was established on 9 September 1966. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the prize was followed up by the State Prize of the Russian Federation. The State Stalin Prize ( Государственная Сталинская премия, ''Gosudarstvennaya Stalinskaya premiya''), usually called the Stalin Prize, existed from 1941 to 1954, although some sources give a termination date of 1952.
