Geological Museum (Malaysia)
The Geological Museum ( ms, Muzium Geologi) is a museum in Ipoh, Kinta District, Perak, Malaysia. History The construction of the museum started in July 1955 when the groundbreaking ceremony was officiated by Perak Crown Prince Idris Shah II of Perak. The museum was finished and opened in 1957. The museum was extensively renovated and upgraded to increase the exhibition space and collections under the Ninth Malaysia Plan. Architecture The museum occupies an area of 343 m2. The building forms an integral part with the Minerals and Geoscience Department Complex of Ipoh. Exhibitions The museum is divided into seven zones, ranging from the history of the museum and department, history of earth, dinosaur, minerals, mining activities, mineral exploration, geological hazards etc. It displays more than 600 types of minerals and various stones. Perak
Perak () is a state of Malaysia on the west coast of the Malay Peninsula. Perak has land borders with the Malaysian states of Kedah to the north, Penang to the northwest, Kelantan and Pahang to the east, and Selangor to the south. Idris Shah II Of Perak
Sultan Idris Iskandar Al-Mutawakkil Alallahi Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar Shah Kaddasullah, CMG (17 August 1924 – 31 January 1984) was the 33rd Sultan of Perak from 5 January 1963 until his death on 31 January 1984. He was the son of Sultan Iskandar Shah. Early life and education He was born on 17 August 1924 at Istana Negara, Kuala Kangsar, Perak as the second son of Sultan Iskandar and Raja Puteh Umi Kalsom. His father was a son of Sultan Iskandar Shah and a brother of Sultan Abdul Jalil. His oldest brother died when he was only 40 days old. He was named Raja Idris Shah at birth. He was educated at Clifford School, Kuala Kangsar and furthered his studies at the Malay College Kuala Kangsar. He was made Raja Di Hilir in 1933, succeeding Raja Chulan, who died that year. Ninth Malaysia Plan
The Ninth Malaysian Plan ( ms, Rancangan Malaysia ke-9), abbreviated as '9MP', is a comprehensive blueprint prepared by the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of the Prime Minister's Department and the Finance Ministry of Malaysia with approval by the Cabinet of Malaysia. The plan allocates the national budget from 2006 to 2010 in regard to all economic sectors in Malaysia. The blueprint was announced on 31 March 2006, and was unveiled by the fifth Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in Parliament. The economic development plan was unveiled at a time when Malaysia was starting to recover from the Asian financial crisis and challenging economic conditions as a result of high oil prices.
