Generoso Vetta Railway Station
Generoso Vetta is the upper terminal railway station of the Monte Generoso railway, a rack railway that connects Capolago with the summit of Monte Generoso in the Swiss canton of Ticino. At 1,592 metres above sea level, it is the highest railway station in Ticino. The station is situated a short walk from the mountain summit, and only a few metres from the international border with the Italian region of Lombardy. The old station building, which had a buffet, a restaurant and a hotel, closed at the end of the 2013 season and was demolished. Castel San Pietro
Castel San Pietro is a municipality in the district of Mendrisio in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. History Castel San Pietro is first mentioned in 1171 as ''Castellum Sancti Petri''. A settlement near the village was mentioned in 865, when an Imperial knight named Sigeradus, granted the area to the monastery of Sant'Ambrogio in Milan. The municipality was originally part of the '' Vicinanza'' of Balerna. By 1270 it had an Imperial palace and it was given to Como Cathedral. During the war between Milan and Como (1118–27) a castle was built, which was the origin of the municipality's name. Capolago-Riva San Vitale railway station ( it, Stazione di Capolago-Riva San Vitale) is a railway station in the Swiss canton of Ticino. The station is in the village of Capolago, part of the municipality of Mendrisio, but, as its name suggests, also serves the adjoining municipality of Riva San Vitale. Mario Botta (born 1 April 1943) is a Swiss architect. Career Botta designed his first building, a two-family house at Morbio Superiore in Ticino, at age 16. He graduated from the Università Iuav di Venezia (1969).
