General Classification In The Tour Of Britain
The General classification in the Tour of Britain is the most prestigious classification out of the four in the Tour of Britain, the one which is won by the overall winner. Historically the leader of this competition has worn a yellow jersey, but, from the 2011 edition due to sponsorship, it became known as the ''IG Markets Gold Jersey''. In 2017, it became a green jersey in light of sponsorship from Ovo Energy. Rules Like most cycling events the winner is determined by who has the fastest time over the entirety of the race. Time bonuses can be won by winning a stage, or reaching an intermediate sprint or the top of a climb first. The rider who has completed the course in the smallest time will win the Tour of Britain. 2007 Tour Of Britain
The 2007 edition of the Tour of Britain stage race was run as a UCI 2.1 category in seven stages starting in London on 9 September and finishing in Glasgow on 15 September. The Tour was extended to seven days for 2007, with the extra day being used to run a stage in Somerset for the first time. Instead of finishing in London as in previous years, the 2007 race started in London and finished in Glasgow, which is using the event to boost its bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games. French rider Romain Feillu won the overall race, Mark Cavendish won the Points competition and Ben Swift won the Mountains competition. Christopher Sutton (born 10 September 1984) is an Australian former professional cyclist from Australia, who rode professionally between 2005 and 2015 for the , and squads. Born in Caringbah, Sydney, New South Wales, Sutton trained as a carpenter. He is the son of NSW Institute of Sport's head cycling coach, Gary Sutton, and nephew of British Cycling track coach, Shane Sutton; both ex-professional cyclists.
