General Cup
The General Cup was a professional non-ranking snooker tournament which was held sporadically from 2004 until 2015 at the General Snooker Club in Hong Kong. History Established in 2004 under the "General Cup International" name, the tournament was contested only intermittently, with the last event held in 2015. The field comprised mostly professional players and several top Far Eastern amateurs, except in 2013 only professionals were invited. In 2014, there were eight professionals and a wildcard player. In the early rounds, the field of competition is divided into groups with the players in each group playing each other in a round-robin format, followed by knock-out stages. The final champion is Marco Fu Marco Fu Ka-chun, MH, JP (, born 8 January 1978) is a Hong Kong professional snooker player. The 2011 General Cup was a professional non-Snooker world rankings, ranking snooker tournament that took place between 4–7 July 2011 at the General Snooker Club in Hong Kong. Stephen Lee (snooker Player)
Stephen Lee (born 12 October 1974) is an English former professional snooker player who is currently serving a 12-year ban from the sport. He turned professional in 1992, reached a career-high of fifth in the snooker world rankings for the 2000–01 season, and won five ranking titles. Mark James Williams (born 21 March 1975) is a Welsh professional snooker player who is a three-time World Champion, winning in 2000, 2003 and 2018. Often noted for his single-ball long potting ability, Williams has earned the nickname "The Welsh Potting Machine". 2015 General Cup
The 2015 General Cup was a professional non-ranking snooker tournament that took place between 16 and 21 November 2015 at the General Snooker Club in Hong Kong. Ali Carter was the defending champion but he withdrew from the tournament. Kyren Wilson withdrew as well and they were replaced by Michael Holt and Mark Davis. Zhang Anda won the General Cup Qualifying Event. Anda beat Cao Yupeng 5–4 in the final. This was an invitational event with the winner receiving the final place in the General Cup. Marco Fu beat Mark Williams 7–3 in the final, making 3 centuries while doing so. Allister Carter (born 25 July 1979) is an English professional snooker player. He has twice been the World Championship runner-up, in 2008 and 2012, losing both finals to Ronnie O'Sullivan. The 2014 General Cup was a professional non-ranking snooker tournament that took place between 12 and 18 October 2014 at the General Snooker Club in Hong Kong. Barry Hawkins was to take part in the tournament, but he was replaced by Liang Wenbo due to a neck injury. The General Cup marked the return of Ali Carter, who was playing in his first event since his chemotherapy treatment, having been diagnosed with testicular cancer that had spread to his lungs in May. Mark Davis (born 12 August 1972) is an English professional snooker player from St Leonards in Sussex. He became professional in 1991, and for many years was considered something of a journeyman; however, he vastly improved his game in the late 2000s, and as a result in 2012 made his debut in the top 16.
