General (Gen) is a four-star commissioned officer rank in the Swedish Army, Swedish Air Force and Swedish Amphibious Corps. General ranks immediately above Generallöjtnant, lieutenant general and is equivalent to Admiral (Sweden), admiral in the Swedish Navy. It is held by the Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces, Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces and the Monarchy of Sweden, monarch. The Swedish Code of Statutes ( sv, Svensk författningssamling; SFS) is the official law code of Sweden which contains the statutes and ordinances enacted and designated by the Government, including a publication of all new Swedish laws enacted by the Riksdag. Every law shall be cited an SFS number, including legislation amending already existing law. The number contained in the citation consists of a four digit year, a colon and then an incrementing number by year. Gustaf V (Oscar Gustaf Adolf; 16 June 1858 – 29 October 1950) was King of Sweden from 8 December 1907 until his death in 1950. Oscar Nygren
General Oscar Eugéne Nygren (26 September 1872 – 12 January 1960) was a Swedish Army officer. He was Chief of the General Staff from 1933 to 1937 and acting Chief of the Army from 1936 to 1937. Although retired from active service in 1937, he was called back in service after World War II broke out, as commander of the 2nd Army Corps. He finally retired from the Army in 1941. General Olof Gerhard Thörnell (19 October 1877 – 25 July 1977) was a Swedish Army officer. He was Sweden's first Supreme Commander from 8 December 1939 until 1944. Before 1939 that had been the role of the King. Carl XVI Gustaf (Carl Gustaf Folke Hubertus; born 30 April 1946) is King of Sweden. He ascended the throne on the death of his grandfather, Gustaf VI Adolf, on 15 September 1973. Sverker John Olof Göranson (born 3 May 1954) is a Swedish Army general with an armoured forces background. In 1995, he was the chief of staff of the Nordic battalion within UNPROFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Yugoslav Wars.
