Gene Upshaw Award
The Gene Upshaw Award is awarded to the best Lineman (American football), lineman, offensive or defensive, in NCAA Division II college football. The award is presented by the Manheim Touchdown Club and is recognized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The award is named after former NFL offensive lineman Gene Upshaw, who played college football at Texas A&M University–Kingsville, Texas A&I University and later for the Oakland Raiders in the National Football League, NFL. He was inducted into both the College Football Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame. Joe Long (American Football)
Joseph R. Long (born July 27, 1989) is an American former professional football player who was an offensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL). Long attended Wayne State University in Michigan and joined the St. Louis Rams as a free agent as he went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft. His brother is former offensive tackle Jake Long. In gridiron football, a lineman is a player who specializes in play at the line of scrimmage. The linemen of the team currently in possession of the ball are the offensive line, while linemen on the opposing team are the defensive line. A number of NFL rules specifically address restrictions and requirements for the offensive line, whose job is to help protect the quarterback from getting sacked for a loss, or worse, fumbling. The defensive line is covered by the same rules that apply to all defensive players. Grand Valley State Lakers Football
The Grand Valley State Lakers football team represents Grand Valley State University (GVSU) in NCAA Division II football. The team currently competes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and was once affiliated with the now defunct Midwest Intercollegiate Football Conference. The Lakers football team has appeared in six NCAA Division II national title games, winning four championships, since 2001. The team has made the playoffs in 20 seasons. Darius Allen (born April 8, 1992) is an American former professional gridiron football defensive end. College career Allen played college football for the CSU–Pueblo ThunderWolves from 2011 to 2014. The Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs are the athletic teams that represent the University of Minnesota Duluth. They were first named Bulldogs in 1933. Their colors are maroon and gold. The Wayne State Warriors football team is the college football team at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. The Wayne State football team played their first game in October 1918. Brandon Fusco (born July 26, 1988) is a former American football guard. He was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings with the 172nd overall pick in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
