Gemert-Bakel () is a municipality in the southern Netherlands. The predecessor of this castle was a motte-and-bailey located further to the west and was discovered in 1995. It is said that the townfounder Diederik van Gemert lived here. Milheeze
Milheeze (dialect: ''Millus'') is a village in the Dutch province North Brabant. Milheeze is part of the municipality Gemert-Bakel. The village was first mentioned in 1332 as Milleis. The etymology is unclear. Milheeze developed in the Late Middle Ages around a chapel. The chapel was replaced by the St Willibrordus Church in 1844-1845 which was built on the foundations of the chapel. Milheeze was home to 579 people in 1840. The monastery Mariaoord was founded in Milheeze in 1935. Gemert
Gemert is a town in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of Gemert-Bakel. Gemert was a separate municipality until 1997, when it merged with Bakel. De Rips
De Rips is a village east of Helmond and Eindhoven in southern part of the Netherlands. Until the late 1990s it formed the municipality of Bakel and Milheeze alongside Milheeze and Bakel, but in 1997 it was forced to merge with the larger Gemert municipality. The village was first mentioned in 1544 as Ripse Paal, and refers to a border pole close to the stream Rips. De Rips was located in the Peel, a large heath area. In 1871, was bought by Cornelis Carp who built a farm in 1875 on land which was named after the border pole. The land was cultivated and more farms were built. Wim Verstappen (4 May 1937 – 24 July 2004) was a Dutch film director and producer, television director, and screen writer. Verstappen grew up in Curaçao. He began studies at the Netherlands Film and Television Academy in 1961, and released his first movie in 1966, ''De minder gelukkige terugkeer van Joszef Katus naar het land van Rembrandt''. He joined the editorial staff of the film magazine ''Skoop'' in 1964, working alongside Nicolai van der Heyde, Gied Jaspars, and Pim de la Parra. Albertus Johannes (Jan) van Gemert (3 June 1921, in Gemert – 11 September 1991, Gemert) was a Dutch painter, graphic artist, sculptor, glass artist and ceramist. at the Netherlands Institute for Art History Life Jan van Gemert was born in Gemert, the third of twelve children. Macropedius
Georgius Macropedius (born Joris van Lanckvelt; April 1487 – July 1558) was a Dutch humanist, schoolmaster and "the greatest Latin playwright of the 16th century." Biography Macropedius was born as Joris van Lanckvelt in Gemert (Northern Brabant, the Netherlands) in 1487. Little is known about his boyhood. After having attended the parish school, Joris van Lanckvelt moved to 's-Hertogenbosch. Here, he attended the local grammar school. Joris lived in one of the boarding-houses of the Brothers of the Common Life, who were followers of the Modern Devotion. In 1502, at the age of fifteen, he became a member of the fraternity and prepared for a career in teaching.
