Geghamavan ( hy, Գեղամավան) is a village in the Gegharkunik Province of Armenia. History The village was founded in the 1830s by migrants from the Maku region of Persia Iran, officially the Islamic Republic of Iran, and also called Persia, is a country located in Western Asia. Gegharkunik ( hy, Գեղարքունիք, ) is a province ('' marz'') of Armenia. Its capital and largest city is Gavar. Gegharkunik Province is located at the eastern part of Armenia, bordering Azerbaijan. It includes the exclave of Artsvashen, which has been under Azerbaijani occupation since the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. With an area of , Gegharkunik is the largest province in Armenia.
