Geek Picnic is the largest European open air festival dedicated to popular science, modern technology, science and art. The first festival was held in St. Petersburg in 2011. Since 2014, Geek Picnic has been held in Moscow and St. Petersburg. In 2016, the first Geek Picnic was held in Israel. Festivals 2011 The first Geek Picnic took place, at the New Holland Island in Saint Petersburg, on August 6, 2011. It presented several scientific shows, including 3D printing and robotics, as well as indoor and outdoor activities like modern game consoles, monocycles, Powerbocking, jumping stilts, gaming zone and sports ground. The festival attracted more than 1500 visitors. 2012 The second Geek Picnic was held at the same location on August, 3rd. Anatoly Aleksandrovich Wasserman (russian: Анато́лий Алекса́ндрович Ва́ссерман, uk, Анатолій Олександрович Вассерман; born 9 December 1952) is a politician, journalist and political pundit who has won numerous television intellectual quiz shows. Since September 2021 he is a member of the State Duma of the Russian Federation ( the 8th convocation). Biography Wasserman studied thermal physics at the Institute of refrigeration and cryotechnologies in Odessa, specializing also in computer programming. Christian Ristow (born July 2, 1970) is an American robotic artist. He is known for his robotic performance art under the name Robochrist Industries, his animatronics work in film and television, and his large-scale interactive sculptures. Life and career From 1993 to 1997, Ristow volunteered for the seminal robotic performance art collective Survival Research Laboratories in San Francisco, California. Jason Barnes (drummer)
Jason Barnes (born 1990 in Guam) is an American amputee drummer with a robotic arm. Having started out a career with a music band, in 2012 Barnes lost one of his arms in an accident. After the amputation, Barnes created his own prosthetic arm in an attempt to be able to play the drums; he was accepted into the drumming program at the Atlanta Institute of Music. Later on he started working with Gil Weinberg at the Georgia Institute of Technology Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines to develop a cyborg arm that enables him to play his drum kit.
