Gaumee Film Awards
The Gaumee Film Awards aka Dhivehi Film Awards are presented by National Centre for the Arts to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Maldivian film industry. The Gaumee Film Award ceremony is the oldest film events in Maldives. The ceremony had been sponsored by various private organisations in the past as well as in present provisions. A live ceremony was broadcast to television audiences. History A meeting was arranged at MCM on 30 October 1993, once the government decides to hold a Film Festival to honor the film industry. The awards were first introduced in 1994. Out of the twenty two people invited from the fraternity, only ten people showed up for the meeting. ''Emme Fahu Vindha Jehendhen'' () is a 2015 Maldivian romantic-drama film, starring Mohamed Jumayyil and Mariyam Majudha in the lead roles. The film was released on 5 April 2015. The film is loosely based on the novel 'Love Story' by American novelist Erich Segal. Plot Ryan (Mohamed Jumayyil), a rich boy and Meera (Mariyam Majudha), an ordinary girl meet while holidaying in an island and fall madly in love. But tragedy strikes when they decide to get married. Despite his father's (Mohamed Manik) discontentment, Ryan marries Meera only to find him being cut off from his father's wealth. Their perfect life is thrown into turmoil when Ryan learns that Meera has blood cancer. Since Ryan has been cut off his father's property he can't afford Meera's treatment. Ibrahim Zaid Ali
Ibrahim Zaid Ali (born 15 April 1978), commonly known as Kuda Ibbe is a Maldivian singer and music composer. Early life and career Since childhood, Ali had been listening to all genres of songs from Bollywood classical to hip-hop to heavy metal music. At the age of seven, Ali fabricated music equipment including guitar and drum using wood, plywood and tin, where he used these self-made instruments to perform songs in the football stadium. His talent was recognized by a band member who visited his island for a show where this member gifted him with a real guitar.
