Gaumee Film Awards
The Gaumee Film Awards aka Dhivehi Film Awards are presented by National Centre for the Arts to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Maldivian film industry. The Gaumee Film Award ceremony is the oldest film events in Maldives. The ceremony had been sponsored by various private organisations in the past as well as in present provisions. A live ceremony was broadcast to television audiences. History A meeting was arranged at MCM on 30 October 1993, once the government decides to hold a Film Festival to honor the film industry. The awards were first introduced in 1994. Out of the twenty two people invited from the fraternity, only ten people showed up for the meeting. ''Aniyaa'' is a 2014 Maldivian family drama film directed by Ahmed Nimal. Co-produced by Nims Films and Fariva Films, the film stars Mohamed Jumayyil, Niuma Mohamed and Ismail Rasheed in pivotal roles. The film was released on 28 March 2014. ''Aadheys'' is a 2014 Maldivian family drama film directed by Abdul Faththaah. Written and produced by Hassan Ali under Dash Studio, the film stars Niuma Mohamed, Hussain Sobah, Amira Ismail, Moosa Zakariyya and Fathimath Azifa in pivotal roles. The film was released on 1 October 2014. Filming took place in R. Ungoofaaru simultaneously with director's romantic film '' Love Story'' (2012). Ali Azim
Ali Azim is a Maldivian film actor. Career 2010–2016: Early releases Azim expressed his interest in acting at a very young age. Before he pursued a career in acting Azim worked as a dancer and stage performer. He was first recognized by the audience for his facial expressions while dancing. While working in the Animation Dance Group, the team made a short children's film ''Lollypop'' with "no serious intention but for entertainment". The film which features Azim in a "forgettable" role did not much help to accelerate his career. This was followed by Abdul Faththaah's 5 episodes drama series '' Kaiveni'', starred opposite Mariyam Zuhura. Ismail Jumaih
Ismail Jumaih is a Maldivian actor, choreographer and makeup artist. Career In 2016, Jumaih made his film debut in Hussain Munawwar's ''Neyngi Yaaru Vakivee'' alongside Aminath Rishfa and Ahmed Azmeel. Critics gave the film bad reviews and considered his performance as Sham, to be "boring" while criticising the character development. However, Ahmed Jaishan of ''Vaguthu'', found Jumaih's acting to be "natural and impressive" considering his debut role and picked him as the "biggest highlight" from the "disappointing" film. Despite the negative reviews, the film did average business at the end of its run. Jumaih's other release of the year came with Fathimath Nahula's horror film '' 4426'', where he portrayed the role of Hanim, an aggressive member of the friends who get trapped in a haunted house. Mohamed Jumayyil is a Maldivian actor. He is the son of actor Ahmed Nimal Early life Mohamed Jumayyil's father Ahmed Nimal is one of the established actor and director of the industry. Jumayyil went to Ahmadiyya Pre-school as his first institution. He completed his primary education at Jamaluddin School before completing his secondary education at Dharumavantha School. After completing his GCE Ordinary Level exams, Nimal, inclined Jumayyil to persuade a career in film industry.
