Gary Young (Australian Musician)
Gary Young (born 1947 in New York) is an American-born Australian musician who was a founding member of Australian rock band Daddy Cool in which he played the drums and sang backing vocals. He also played drums with Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons amongst other bands. Young was twice inducted into the Aria Hall of Fame as a member of both Daddy Cool and Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons which were inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame in 2006 and 2007 respectively. Biography Rondells Gary Young (drums, vocals) and Wayne Duncan (bass guitar, vocals) were the rhythm section of many bands, particularly instrumental groups, from the early 1960s onwards. One of these was The Rondells who were also the backing band for Bobby & Laurie, a popular singing duo with their No. 1 hit "Hitch Hiker" from 1966. Gary Young (drummer)
Gary Young (born May 3, 1953) is an American musician and music producer best known as the original drummer of the indie rock band Pavement from its inception in 1989 until his departure in 1993. Early life Gary Young was born in Mamaroneck, New York. His father, Bob Young, was an engineer in the plastics business with deep knowledge of carbon fiber. He worked with Ned Steinberger in the development of the construction of his electric bass for the Steinberger company. Career Early career: 1984–1989 In the 1980s, Young booked musical acts to play around Stockton, including Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks and Black Flag. Early in the decade, he played in the punk band The Fall of Christianity with Brian Thalken of The Authorities. Pavement: 1989–1993; 2010 Stephen Malkmus and Scott Kannberg formed Pavement in Stockton, CA in 1989. Gary Eugene Young (born 1951) is an American poet, printer and book artist. In 2010, he was named the first ever Poet Laureate of Santa Cruz County. Life He graduated from University of California Santa Cruz and University of California, Irvine, with an M.F.A. His work has appeared in ''Poetry'', ''Antaeus'', ''The American Poetry Review'', ''The Kenyon Review'', ''Montserrat Review'', ''ZYZZYVA''.''. In 1975, he founded Greenhouse Review Press. His print work is represented in numerous collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and The Getty Center for the Arts. His archive is held at Brown University. He teaches at the University of California Santa Cruz, and has lived near Santa Cruz for thirty years, with his wife and two sons. Gary Andrew Younge , (born January 1969) is a British journalist, author, broadcaster and academic. He was editor-at-large for ''The Guardian'' newspaper, which he joined in 1993.
