Max Maximilian (born Franz Kuhn; 23 September 1885 – 25 June 1930)Landesarchiv Berlin, Sterberegister StA Schöneweide, Nr. 196/1930 was a German singer, actor and director.Waldman p.141 Career Maximilian was born in Cologne and began his career as a singer and stage actor. He made his stage debut on 20 October 1905 at the Stadttheater Passau performing in operettas. In 1906 he moved to the Studienhaus in Coburg, in 1907 to Pirmasens, in 1908 to the Meininger Residenztheater, and in 1909 as an operetta singer at the Bochum City Theater. In 1910 he followed a call to Speyer, and 1911 to Wittenberge, where he was also allowed to stage plays as a director, and in 1912 to Munich, where he stayed until 1914 and also proved himself as a director and actor. Carmel Myers
Carmel Myers (April 9, 1899 – November 9, 1980) was an American actress who achieved her greatest successes in silent film. Early life Myers was born in San Francisco, the daughter of Isidore Myers, a Russian-Jewish rabbi who was born in Russia but raised in Australia, and Anna Jacobson Myers, an Austrian-Jew. She had an older brother, Zion, and she was a cousin of director Mark Sandrich and photographer Ruth Harriet Louise. Carmel's father was active in campaigns for women's suffrage, abolition of capital punishment, and zionism. He also was a noted scholar. The family moved to Los Angeles in 1905. Myers attended Los Angeles High School but left after D. W. Griffith gave her bit part in the film '' Intolerance'' (1916), for which her father was an unpaid consultant. Julanne Johnston
Julanne Johnston (May 1, 1900 – December 26, 1988) was an American silent film actress. Biography Johnston was born and educated in Indianapolis, Indiana, then her family moved to Hollywood. There she took dancing lessons at the Denishawn School and acted with the Hollywood Community Theatre for two years. She also attended the Hollywood School for Girls. Johnston began her career as a solo dancer and toured with Ruth St. Denis during summer vacations from school. In 1924, she was selected to be a WAMPAS Baby Star. Douglas Fairbanks saw Johnston dance in a theater before the premiere of his film ''Robin Hood'', and this exposure resulted in his signing her to be the leading lady in '' The Thief of Bagdad'', with Anna May Wong in 1924. Guido Seeber
Guido Seeber (22 June 1879 in Chemnitz – 2 July 1940 in Berlin) was a German cinematographer and pioneer of early cinema. Seeber's father, Clemens, was a photographer and therefore Seeber had experience with photography from an early age. In the summer of 1896, he saw the first films of the Lumière Brothers and became fascinated by this new technology. He bought a film camera and devoted himself to the development of cinematography and of sound films. In 1908 he became technical manager of the film company ''Deutsche Bioscop'' and in 1909 directed his first film. His pioneering work as a cinematographer from this time on laid the foundations which other cameramen of German silent film such as Karl Freund, Fritz Arno Wagner and Carl Hoffmann were able to build. Eduard Clemens Franz Anna Freiherr von Wangenheim (1 August 1871 – 22 July 1961), known as Eduard von Winterstein, was an Austrian-German film actor who appeared in over one hundred fifty German films during the silent and sound eras. He was also a noted theater actor. Biography Von Winterstein was born in Vienna on 1 August 1871 to landowner Hugo von Wangenheim and his second wife, Hungarian-born actress Aloysia "Luise" von Wangenheim-Dub.
