Garland Gregory
Garland D. Gregory (March 8, 1919 – April 28, 2011) was an All-America Football Conference (AAFC) guard who played two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. He played college football at Louisiana Polytechnic Institute and attended Columbia High School in Columbia, Louisiana. College career Gregory lettered for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs from 1940 to 1941. He became the school's first Associated Press first-team All-American in 1941. Military career Gregory volunteered to serve in the United States Army Air Forces on December 8, 1941 and was a first lieutenant with the 4th Air Force. Gregory was chosen to play football with the Fourth Air Force Flyers and Hollywood Bears. Professional career Gregory played for the San Francisco 49ers of the AAFC from 1946 to 1947. He was named Second-team All-AAFC by the New York Daily News in 1947. ''Garlands'' is the debut album by the Scottish alternative rock band Cocteau Twins. It was released on 10July1982 by the record label 4AD. It peaked in the top 5 of the UK Independent Albums Chart, and received support from BBC Radio 1 radio host John Peel. Background ''Garlands'' is the only album the band recorded with original bassist Will Heggie. Prior to the album the band recorded a four-track session for John Peel in June 1982 including "Wax and Wane" and "Garlands". A second John Peel session in January 1983 was included as bonus tracks on the cassette and CD release of ''Garlands''. Cindy Sharp of Cindytalk provided backing vocals on "Dear Heart", "Hearsay Please" and "Hazel". Martin C. Strong noted that the album was "hastily recorded" but also featured an "interesting fusion of monochromatic rhythms, textured guitar distortion, and early sampling technology." ''8-Bit Theater'' is a sprite comic created by Brian Clevinger that ran from 2001 to 2010 and consisting of 1,225 pages. It is a sprite comic, meaning the art is mainly taken from pre-existing video game assets. The webcomic was at times one of the most popular webcomics, and the most popular sprite comic. The comic initially follows and parodies the plot of the first ''Final Fantasy'' game, following the "Warriors of Light" who are supposedly on a quest to find four elemental orbs to help them defeat Chaos.
