Jharkhand (; ; ) is a state in eastern India. The state shares its border with the states of West Bengal to the east, Chhattisgarh to the west, Uttar Pradesh to the northwest, Bihar to the north and Odisha to the south. It has an area of . 2014 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly Election
The 2014 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly election (Hindi: झारखण्ड विधानसभा चुनाव) was held in five phases between November 25 and December 20 to elect the members of the 4th Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. The results were announced on December 23, 2014. The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) won the elections defeating The Indian National Congress (INC) and its major allies Rashtriya Janata Dal, Janata Dal (United) and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). The term of the legislative assembly of Jharkhand ended on January 3, 2015. The Chief Election Commissioner announced five-phased assembly elections to be held in Jharkhand along with Jammu and Kashmir beginning November 25 and ending December 20. 2009 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly Election
Elections for the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly were held in December 2009. It was a contest between three alliances The Indian National Congress (INC), The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and its major ally Janata Dal (United), and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). The poll result was a shock for the incumbent BJP-JD(U) Alliance as they could muster only a quarter of the state assembly's 81 seats. The JMM emerged as a formidable force and finally turned out to be the kingmaker. The election turned out to be a stalemate as many expected because no major party or group was able to come even close to the 41-seat majority. The JMM has always been an important factor in the state's political scenario even before the creation of the state. 2005 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly Election
The 2005 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly election was held in three phases from 3 to 23 February 2005 to elect the 81 members of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. It was the first election held in Jharkhand to elect the Second Jharkhand Legislative Assembly; the First/Interim Jharkhand Legislative Assembly was constituted based on the 2000 Bihar Legislative Assembly election. Jharkhand was created by carving out the southern districts of Bihar on 15 November 2000. The election resulted in a hung assembly like the first one. No single party or pre-election alliance got the majority. The Bharatiya Janata Party become the biggest party by winning 30 seats. Palamu District
Palamu district is one of the twenty-four districts of Jharkhand state, India. It was formed in 1892. The administrative headquarter of the district is Medininagar (formerly DaltonGanj), situated on the Koel River. History The Palamu district have site of Neolithic and Chalcolithic settlement in the confluence of Son and North Koel river in Kabra-Kala mound. It is speculated that the Kharwars, which formerly controlled Rohtas Fort to the north, migrated to the current territory of the district. The purportedly Kharwar ruler Pratapaghavala, who controlled part of Rohtas district, also built roads into what is now northern Palamu district and had power west of the Son.
