Gargoyle (comics)
Gargoyle is a name shared by two fictional characters appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Publication history The first Gargoyle, Yuri Topolov, appears in ''The Incredible Hulk'' #1 (May 1962), and was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The appearance of Gargoyle in ''Rampaging Hulk'' #1 is merely part of one of Bereet's fictional techno-art films. The first Gargoyle received an entry in '' The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition'' #17, where his real name was revealed. The second Gargoyle, Isaac Christians, is a human/demon hybrid and a member of the Defenders. He was created by writer J. M. DeMatteis and artist Don Perlin. Perlin's design was inspired by a sequence in ''Prince Valiant'' in which the titular hero disguises himself as a gargoyle. David Anthony Kraft (May 31, 1952 – May 19, 2021) was an American comic book writer, publisher, and critic. He was primarily known for his long-running journal of interviews and criticism, ''Comics Interview'', as well as for work for Marvel Comics in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Writing career Before his comics career, Kraft worked as a rock and roll journalist. In September 1976, he became editor of ''FOOM'' with issue #15, Marvel's self-produced fan magazine, lasting as editor until the magazine's final issue (#22) in 1978. The Order is the name of two fictional superhero teams appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The first team was a brief offshoot of the team Defenders, and the second is part of an initiative to place a superhero team in each state of the United States. The term cryostasis was introduced to name the reversible preservation technology for live biological objects which is based on using clathrate-forming gaseous substances under increased hydrostatic pressure and hypothermic temperatures. Living tissues cooled below the freezing point of water are damaged by the dehydration of the cells as ice is formed between the cells. The mechanism of freezing damage in living biological tissues has been elucidated by Renfret. The vapor pressure of the ice is lower than the vapor pressure of the solute water in the surrounding cells and as heat is removed at the freezing point of the solutions, the ice crystals grow between the cells, extracting water from them. Gremlin (born Kondrati Topolov) is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.
