Garey High School
Garey High School is a public school serving grades 9–12. It is located in Pomona, California and is part of the Pomona Unified School District. The school opened in 1962, and its 2019–2020 enrollment was 1723 students. History Garey High School was one of four major building projects planned by the Pomona Unified School District Board of Education in 1961. It was named for Thomas A. Garey, a Pomona pioneer "associated with the incorporation of Pomona, as well as the incorporation of Artesia and Garey, California", a leading horticulturalist and a founder of the Southern California Horticultural Association. The school was situated in the south part of the district so senior high students could avoid having to travel to the new Pomona High School, situated in North Pomona. Pomona Unified School District or PUSD serves approximately 30,000 Pre-K-12 students and 17,000 adult learners at 44 schools in Pomona and Diamond Bar, California. It is located 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, and is the third-largest school district in Los Angeles County. Artesia (Spanish for "artesian aquifer") is a city in southeast Los Angeles County, California. Artesia was incorporated on May 29, 1959, and is one of Los Angeles County's Gateway Cities.
