Gareth Glynne Davies
Gareth Glyn, born Gareth Glynne Davies (born 1951), is a Welsh composer and radio broadcaster. Life and education Born in Machynlleth, Wales, Glyn is the eldest son of the late Welsh poet T. Glynne Davies. He received his secondary education at Ysgol Maes Garmon in Mold, before attending Merton College, University of Oxford, 1969–72, studying music and specialising in composition. Compositions He has composed a wide range of musical pieces, including diverse vocal and orchestral work and music for television. He has produced one symphony, and many of his recorded orchestral works are in the light music genre, including ''A Snowdon Overture'', ''Legend of the Lake'' and ''Anglesey Seascapes''. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency of Grantham and Stamford since the 2019 general election. Early life Davies was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Gareth Lloyd Davies (born 17 September 1988) is a Welsh Conservative politician who has been Member of the Senedd (MS) for Vale of Clwyd since 2021. Gareth Melville Davies (born 11 December 1973) is a Welsh former professional footballer who played as a central defender. He made over 100 appearances in the English Football League during his career before being forced to retire after a long-term knee injury. Whilst playing for Chesterfield F.C. he broke his foot in three places in a pre-season friendly in August 2007, which ruled him out for at least six weeks. Gareth Davies (born 18 August 1990) is a Wales international rugby union player currently playing for the Scarlets. His position is scrum-half. He is a fluent Welsh speaker. Davies went to Ysgol Gyfun Dyffryn Teifi in Llandysul before studying Sports Development and Coaching at Coleg Sir Gar in Llanelli. He has been with the Scarlets since he joined the academy in 2006. He has over 100 appearances for the Scarlets scoring over 100 points. Davies was the top try scorer in the Pro12 for the 2013-14 season, scoring 10 tries.
