Garden City Community College
Garden City Community College (Garden City CC or GCCC) is a public community college in Garden City, Kansas. It was established in 1919 to provide a means for post-secondary education for area residents. The school initially shared facilities in Sabine Hall and Calkins Hall in the 100 block of Buffalo Jones Avenue with Garden City High School and opened with a first class of less than three dozen students. The college moved to the then-new Garden City High School building in 1954. The Kansas Legislature passed the Community College Act in 1965, authorizing establishment of 22 independent colleges including GCCC. Today GCCC is one of 19 Kansas community colleges. Kevin Jermaine "Kay-Jay" Harris (born March 27, 1979) is a former American football running back. He was signed by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2005. He played college football at West Virginia. Harris has also been a member of the St. Louis Rams and New York Giants. Early years Harris played football, baseball, basketball, and track at Tampa Bay Technical High School in Tampa, Florida. Kansas Jayhawks Men's Basketball
The Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball program is the intercollegiate men's basketball program of the University of Kansas. The program is classified in the NCAA's Division I and the team competes in the Big 12 Conference. Kansas is considered one of the most prestigious college basketball programs in the country with six overall national championships (4 NCAA Tournament championships and 2 Helms national championships), as well being runner-up six times and having the most conference titles in the nation. Darrin Hancock (born November 3, 1971) is a retired American professional basketball player. In high school and college he was known for his strong offense, while his quick and agile moves to the basket drew comparisons to the likes of Dominique Wilkins. Benjamin Stevenson Gay Jr. (born February 28, 1980) is a former American football running back. He spent the 2001 NFL season with the Cleveland Browns. Born in Houston, Gay was a star running back at Spring High School in Spring, Texas. As a senior in 1997, he was a ''USA Today'' first-team All-American. He chose Baylor over Florida, Florida State, and Miami. However, five weeks into his freshman season in 1998, he was kicked off the team for rules violations. He eventually enrolled at Garden City Community College. Mark Leslie Fox (born January 13, 1969) is a men's college basketball coach who is the head coach of the California Golden Bears of the Pac-12 Conference. He spent nine seasons (2009 to 2018) as the head coach of the Georgia Bulldogs. He was previously the head coach for the Nevada Wolf Pack, named to that position on June 1, 2004, just days after former Nevada coach Trent Johnson had resigned.
