Anant Mane
Anant Mane (1915-1995) was a film director from Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India who directed approximately 60 movies during the golden era of Marathi cinema. He was known for making films based on the folk art form Tamasha, and also directed a number of family melodramas. He teamed up with the music director Vasant Pawar and directed several hit movies in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Mane's 1961 film ''Manini'' won the President's Silver Medal for best regional film of the year. Ashok Saraf (Hindii pronunciation: ʃoːk səɾaːf born 4 June 1947) is an Indian film and stage actor and comedian. He has appeared in many Marathi language films and stage plays in lead roles and in Hindi language films and TV serials in supporting roles. He received five Filmfare Awards, Maharashtra government award for the film ''Pandu Havaldar'', Screen Award for ''Sawai Havaldar'', Bhojpuri Film Award for ''Maika Bitua'', ten state government awards for Marathi films and Best Comedian in '' Maharashtracha Favorite Kon''. Nilu Phule
Nilu Phule (Marathi pronunciation: iɭuː pʰuleː 4 April 1930 - 13 July 2009) was an Indian actor known for his roles in Marathi movies and Marathi theatre. Nilu Phule acted in around 250 Marathi and Hindi movies during his film career. He was most prominently seen playing the roles of notorious villains in the movies. Phule was also a social worker, and was associated with Rashtra Seva Dal. Early life Phule was born in 1930 in Pune as Nilkanth Krushnaji Phule in a Mali caste. He was involved in the independence movement. According to his interview in a serial 'Vastraharan' on a Marathi Channel, he was a freedom fighter from Pune. Phule's first job was that of a gardener at the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, aged 17. Ram Kadam (composer)
Ram Kadam (28 August 1918 – 19 February 1997) was a noted Indian lavani composer and film score composer, who worked in Marathi cinema, during the 1940s to the 1990s, composing for nearly 200 films. He is most known for composing Lavani songs, a folk form of Maharashtra, and popular Lavani-based songs of hit film, '' Pinjra'' (1972), directed by V. Shantaram. He also composed music of plays. Early life and background Kadam initially played the clarinet in a band at Miraj, in southern Maharashtra. Thereafter, he learnt classical singing from noted classical singer Ustad Abdul Karim Khan, the doyen of Kirana gharana at Miraj.
