Gamescience
Gamescience is an American game company that produces role-playing games and game supplements. History Gamescience Corp. was started by Phillip E. Orbanes in 1965. In that year, the company published the wargame Vietnam which was reviewed in issue #4 of Strategy and Tactics (S&T) magazine. In 1967 the company published another wargame which Mr. Orbanes designed called Confrontation, which was reviewed in S&T issue #6. In 1968, the company published the wargame, The Battle of Britain designed by Lou Zocchi, which was reviewed in S&T #13. The company was sold before Mr. Orbanes left college. Gamescience was founded by Lou Zocchi. ''The Battle of Britain'' is a board wargame published by Gamescience in 1968 that is a simulation of the Battle of Britain during World War II. Background In July 1940, Germany began aerial attacks on British airfields, cities and infrastructure in an attempt to gain air superiority in advance of an amphibious invasion (Operation Sealion). The Germans were not able to gain air superiority due to the efforts of The Few, and by the fall of 1940, Hitler had turned his attention to an invasion of the Soviet Union. MiG Killers
''MiG Killers'' is a board game published by Gamescience in 1977 that simulates combat between jet aircraft from 1945 to 1977. Description ''MiG Killers'' is a board wargame of aerial combat for two players in which each player controls a jet fighter. The game comes with 40 historical scenarios that pair fighter aircraft equipped with technology representative of a particular era. The capabilities of each of the 57 aircraft in the game are listed on aircraft data cards. Players use control logs to track their maneuvers, weaponry and damage. In the Basic game, each aircraft has a turn mode that dictates how quickly it can turn. In the Advanced game, each aircraft is limited by the number of G-forces the aircraft frame (and the pilot) can take. This in turn has an effect on the speed of the aircraft coming out of a turn, and whether its speed falls below its stall speed. Star Patrol
''Star Patrol'' (originally known as ''Space Patrol'') is a science fiction role-playing game published by Gamescience in 1977. Description ''Star Patrol'' is a science-fiction space-adventure role-playing system. In the initial release, ''Space Patrol'', the brief rules cover character creation and abilities, psionics, alien creatures, gravity, and combat with superscientific weapons. In the revised edition retitled ''Star Patrol'', character creation has been expanded to include the ability to generate an alien character from one of 32 races, the choice of professions such as soldier, engineer, scientist, astronaut, trader, rogue/thief, and spy/diplomat, a choice of 25 skills, as well as the possibility of adding cybernetic body parts and psionic abilities. ''TWERPS'' (''The World's Easiest Role-Playing System'') is a minimalist role-playing game (RPG) originally created by Reindeer Games (whose sole product was the ''TWERPS'' line) and distributed by Gamescience. Presented as a parody of the complicated RPG systems which were prevalent at the time while still being a playable game in its own right, its simple structure and humorous nature gave it unexpected popularity. Lou Zocchi
Louis Zocchi is a gamer, gaming hobbyist, former game distributor and publisher, and maker and seller of polyhedral game dice. In 1986, he was elected to the Charles Roberts Awards Hall of Fame. Career Lou Zocchi was one of the first editors for Avalon Hill's magazine, ''The General (magazine), The General'', and a regular contributor during its first 11 years of publication. Bardstown is a home rule-class city in Nelson County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 11,700 in the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Nelson County.
