Gamepad
A gamepad is a type of video game controller held in two hands, where the fingers (especially thumbs) are used to provide input. They are typically the main input device for video game consoles. Features Gamepads generally feature a set of buttons handled with the right thumb and a direction controller handled with the left. The direction controller has traditionally been a four-way digital cross (also named a joypad, or alternatively a D-pad, and never called arrow keys), but most modern controllers additionally (or as a substitute) feature one or more analog sticks. Some common additions to the standard pad include shoulder buttons (also called "bumpers") and triggers placed along the edges of the pad (shoulder buttons are usually digital, i.e. merely on/off; while triggers are usually analog); centrally placed ''start'', ''select'', and ''home'' buttons, and an internal motor to provide force feedback. ''Spacewar!'' is a Space combat game, space combat video game developed in 1962 by Steve Russell (computer scientist), Steve Russell in collaboration with Martin Graetz, Wayne Wiitanen, Robert Alan Saunders, Bob Saunders, Steve Piner, and others. It was written for the newly installed Digital Equipment Corporation, DEC PDP-1 minicomputer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The GameCube controller is the standard game controller for the GameCube home video game console, manufactured by Nintendo and launched in 2001. As the successor to the Nintendo 64 controller, it is the progression of Nintendo's controller design in numerous ways. Nostromo SpeedPad N52
The Nostromo is a USB video game controller designed by Belkin. Formerly called the Belkin Nostromo SpeedPad, it was succeeded by the Razer Nostromo, which was co-developed by Belkin and Razer. It can be considered a keyboard/joystick/mouse hybrid. It can also be used outside of games, for example to support cartographic software. Models The first model of the Nostromo, the Belkin Nostromo SpeedPad n50, was announced in 2001 alongside the company's n30 GameMouse as a double-handed control system. In the history of video games, the third generation of game consoles, commonly referred to as the 8-bit era, began on July 15, 1983 with the Japanese release of two systems: Nintendo's Family Computer (commonly abbreviated to '' Famicom'') and Sega's SG-1000. Paddle (game Controller)
A paddle is a game controller with a round ''wheel'' and one or more ''fire buttons'', where the wheel is typically used to control movement of the player object along one axis of the video screen. A paddle controller rotates through a fixed arc (usually about 330 degrees); it has a stop at each end. Design The paddle wheel is usually mechanically coupled to a potentiometer, so as to generate an output voltage level varying with the wheel's angle relative to a fixed reference position.
