Galway Bay FM
Galway Bay FM is an Irish independent local radio station and operates under a licence from the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland. Established in 1989, the station broadcasts from studios in Galway, serving the city and County Galway. Programming The programming format is a mixture of music, news, sport, current affairs and local issues. Programmes are generally in English, although the station features some Irish language programmes. There is an opt-out service with alternative programming for Galway city on weekday evenings using the 95.8 MHz frequency. History The station was originally launched as Radio West and was the first legal local radio station in Galway. Radio West changed its name to Galway Bay FM in 1993. In 2006, the ''Connacht Tribune'' newspaper bought the station outright, having previously owned 27% of it. Cork's RedFM is an Irish radio station which broadcasts to Cork and the surrounding area, and is aimed at a youth audience. The station commenced broadcasting on 16 January 2002" and was awarded Ireland's first youth radio licence. Its target market is the 15-35 age group in Cork city and county. Today FM is an Irish national commercial FM radio station, owned and operated by Bauer Audio Ireland Limited. Broadcasting since 17 March 1997, it broadcasts mostly music, with a daily news and current affairs programme. Today FM holds a licence from the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland as far as the year 2027. The station recorded pretax profits of €7.4 million on a turnover of €19.4 million in early 2009, more than twice what it was two years previously. Keith Cunningham
Keith Cunningham or "K.C." (born ) is an Irish radio presenter, producer and radio programmer. After spending a number of years with Today FM in Dublin, and commuting each week, he left the station to return home to his family in Cork. After spending some time at Cork's Red FM, as of late 2021, Cunningham was presenter of "KC & Ross in the Morning" (previously "The KC Show" from 2017-2019) on Cork's 96FM. Early career Originally from Breaffy near Castlebar in County Mayo, Cunningham started his radio career with pirate station Kiss FM in the early 1990s. Seán Hegarty (born 25 June 1968), better known by his stage name Marc Roberts, is an Irish singer, best known for representing Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1997. His song, "Mysterious Woman", finished in second place and reached number two on the Irish Singles Chart. He is originally from Crossmolina, County Mayo, and now based in Galway, where he presents a local radio show as well as continuing his singing career. He has to date released six studio albums. Sinéad Ní Neachtain
Sinéad Ní Neachtain (born 1977) is an Irish editor. Ní Neachtain is a former editor of ''Galway Now'' magazine. A native of Inverin, she is part of a family of five. She re-located to Boston, Massachusetts with her family when she was ten years old, but returned two years later, and attended Coláiste Chroí Mhuire Secondary School in Spiddal. Following her graduation from Dublin City University (DCU) with an Honours Degree in Journalism, Sinéad began her broadcasting career with RTÉ. Adrian Lydon (born 1976) is a reporter/producer for CNN, he previously worked as television reporter for the ''Nine O'Clock News'' on Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). Lydon was responsible for the first media reports on the Leas Cross scandal and the Bank of Ireland stolen laptop story. Licensed radio broadcasting in Ireland is one element of the wider media of Ireland, with 85% of the population listening to a licensed radio broadcasting service on any given day.
