Gaillard II De Durfort
Gaillard II de Durfort (died 1422), Lord of Duras, Blanquefort, and Villandraut, and Seneschal of Gascony, was a 13th-14th century Gascon nobleman of the Durfort family. Life Durfort was the eldest son of Gaillard I de Durfort (died 1356) and Marguerite de Caumont. Gaillard was taken prisoner with Thomas Felton, the Seneschal of Gascony during a skirmish in 1377, near Eymet. Durfort was himself appointed Seneschal of Gascony and served between 1399 and 1415. Durfort died in 1422. Gaillard I De Durfort
Gaillard I de Durfort ( oc, Galhart; fl. 1309–1356), known as the Archdeacon (''l'Archidiacre''), was a French priest and nobleman of the Durfort family. He inherited the Lacour–Durfort lands in 1345 and abandoned his clerical career to marry Marguerite de Caumont. At first he took the English side in the Hundred Years' War. As a commander, he played a major role in the campaigns of 1345–46 in the Duchy of Gascony. In 1352 he changed sides, but in 1356 he returned to the English side. Blanquefort, Gironde
Blanquefort (; Gascon: Blancahòrt) is a commune in the Gironde department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. Blanquefort is an outlying commune of the Bordeaux metropolitan area. The commune consists of historic Blanquefort and Caychac, which is further out from central Bordeaux and was formerly a commune in its own right. Historic Blanquefort includes the ruins of a small medieval fortress and a nineteenth-century park, the ''Parc de Majolan'', complete with a maze-like grotto and small artificial ruins which were in vogue at that time. Blanquefort is well connected to the rest of the agglomeration by the Bordeaux bus services, including services most of the night. Thomas Felton (died 1381)
Sir Thomas de Felton (died 2 April 1381) was an English landowner, military knight, envoy and administrator. He fought at the Battle of Crécy in 1346, and the Capture of Calais in 1347. He was also at the Battle of Poitiers in 1356. A recurrent figure in the ''Chronicles'' of Jean Froissart, he was a signatory to the Treaty of Brétigny in 1360. In 1362 he was appointed Seneschal of Aquitaine. He accompanied Edward the Black Prince on his Spanish campaign. He was taken prisoner by Henry of Trastámara's forces in 1367. In 1372 he was appointed joint-governor of Aquitaine and seneschal of Bordeaux. He caused Guillaume de Pommiers and his secretary to be beheaded for treason in 1377. Eymet (; oc, Aimet) is a commune in the Dordogne department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. It is notable as a popular location amongst English speaking immigrants, who account for ten per cent of the local population. Geography Eymet is situated in the Périgord region, on the river Dropt.
