''Gaelic Life'' is a Gaelic games newspaper. It has been published since 2007. A weekly publication, it appears on a Thursday. Though it offers coverage primarily of Gaelic games in the province of Ulster, it circulates through the other three provinces - Connacht, Leinster and Munster - as well. The North West of Ireland Printing and Publishing Company (NWIPP) is a family-owned newspaper group based in the Irish province of Ulster, both in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The company was established in 1901 by the Lynch family with the launch of the '' Ulster Herald''. The company expanded rapidly in the following years adding the ''Derry People'' (now '' Donegal News'') and ''Fermanagh Herald'' in 1902; and purchased the '' Strabane Chronicle'', which had been established in 1896. Kevin 'Hank' McGourty is an Irish dual player of Gaelic games, i.e. Gaelic football and hurling, who plays for the St Gall's club, County Antrim and Ulster, and, previously, Queen's University Belfast and University College Dublin. Biography McGourty was educated at De La Salle Boys School Belfast, Queen's University Belfast, University College Dublin, and Blackhall Place. Following the successful completion of a Bachelor of Arts (Joint Honors) Modern History and Political Science at Queen's he became involved in electoral politics. Between 2004 and 2007 he became the first student to be elected to political office at Queen's University Belfast Students Union on three occasions. Dr McKenna Cup
The Dr McKenna Cup is an annual Gaelic football competition played between counties and universities in the province of Ulster. It is the secondary Gaelic football competition based in Ulster behind the Ulster Senior Football Championship, and the fourth most important inter-county competition in which Ulster counties take part, behind the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Ulster Championship and the National Football League. Once held in high regard, in recent years the focus of the competition has changed, and some county teams have made use of it as a pre-season "warm up" competition ahead of the National League and Championship. Gaelic games ( ga, Cluichí Gaelacha) are a set of sports played worldwide, though they are particularly popular in Ireland, where they originated. They include Gaelic football, hurling, Gaelic handball and rounders. Football and hurling, the most popular of the sports, are both organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). Women's versions of hurling and football are also played: camogie, organised by the Camogie Association of Ireland, and ladies' Gaelic football, organised by the Ladies' Gaelic Football Association.
