Gael Linn Cup 1967
The 1967 Gael Linn Cup, the most important representative competition for elite level participants in the women's team field sport of camogie, was won by Ulster, who defeated Leinster in the final, played at Parnell Park. Arrangements An Ulster team with ten Antrim players fresh from their breakthrough All-Ireland success, defeated Connacht 9–14 to 3–0 at Cavan. Leinster defeated Munster 2–5 to 3–0 at Naas. Maeve Gilroy was the star in Ulster's first success in the competition, achieved with ten players from Antrim and two from Down as they defeated Leinster by 5–4 to 5–1 at Parnell Park. The Ulster Council ( ga, Comhairle Uladh) is a provincial council of the Gaelic Athletic Association sports of hurling, Gaelic football, camogie, and handball in the province of Ulster. The headquarters of the Ulster GAA is based in the city of Armagh. The first Ulster GAA Convention was held on 22 March 1903 in Armagh. Belfast solicitor George Martin was elected as first president with L. F. O'Kane (Derry) as first secretary. Victor O'Nolan ( Tyrone), the father of writer Flann O'Brien, was elected vice-president. Margaret O'Leary-Leacy born in Wexford is a former camogie player selected on the camogie team of the century in 2004, and winner of All Ireland medals in 1968, 1969 and 1975. Playing career She played for Buffers Alley Club with whom she won three All Ireland Club Championships. She also holds eight Gael Linn interprovincial medals. Mary Sinnott born 1943 in Aughfad, County Wexford, Ireland as Mary Dinan, is a former camogie and badminton player. Biography Mary Dinan was born Mary Sinnott in Aughfad, County Wexford in 1943. She is the daughter of John and Mai Sinnott (nee O'Connor). She has two brothers, Nicholas and Sean. Her uncle was Mick O'Hanlon a hurler in the Wexford All-Ireland winning teams in 1955 and 1956. She attended Loreto Convent in Wexford. She married Gay Dinan in Taghmon in 1968, and the couple moved to Dublin. They had one daughter, Elizabeth (born 1969).
