Campeonato Sudamericano de GT (''Southamerican GT Championship'') previously known as GT3 Brasil Championship, GT Brasil and Campeonato Brasileiro de GT was a sports car racing series based in the Brazil organized by the SRO Latin America. History Starting in 2007, the GT3 Brasil Championship has been held in Brazil, also organized by SRO, with several veteran drivers racing in some events, such as former Formula One champions Emerson Fittipaldi and former Brazilian Stock Car champions Chico Serra and Ingo Hoffmann. Differently from the European series, GT3 Brasil accepts professional drivers, in a system where drivers are graded from A (International Driver) to D (Fully Amateur). A grand tourer (GT) is a type of car that is designed for high speed and long-distance driving, due to a combination of performance and luxury attributes. The most common format is a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive two-door coupé with either a two-seat or a 2+2 arrangement. Grand tourers are most often the coupé derivative of luxury saloons or sedans. The term is a near-calque from the Italian language phrase ''gran turismo'' which became popular in the English language from the 1950s, evolving from fast touring cars and streamlined closed sports cars during the 1930s. The Lamborghini Gallardo (; ) is a sports car built by the Italian automotive manufacturer Lamborghini from 2003 to 2013. It is Lamborghini's second car released under parent company Audi, and best-selling model with 14,022 built throughout its production run. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG (C197 / R197) is a front mid-engine, 2-seater, limited production grand tourer developed by the Mercedes-AMG division of German automotive manufacturer Mercedes-Benz, with the assistance of David Coulthard. The car is the successor to the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and was described by Mercedes-Benz as a spiritual successor to the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing, mainly because it was inspired by the latter. 2012 Campeonato Brasileiro De GT Season
The 2012 Campeonato Brasileiro de GT season (Brazilian GT Championship) was the sixth season of Campeonato Brasileiro de GT, the first with this name. The season began on April 21 at Santa Cruz do Sul and ended on December 15 at the Interlagos after eight weekends totalling sixteen races. Cleber Faria and Duda Rosa won the championship in GT3 class, Carlos Kray and Anderom Toso won in GT Premium, the GT4 championship was winner by Sergio Laganá and Alan Hellmeister. Class restructure For the 2012 season, Campeonato Brasileiro de GT will contain three key classes. The GT3 class allows FIA homologated GT3 cars, such as the Ferrari 458 Italia. 2011 GT Brasil Season
The 2011 Itaipava GT Brasil season is the fifth season of GT Brasil. It will begin on 10 April Interlagos and end on December 18 in the same circuit after ten weekends totalling twenty races will include a support at the São Paulo Indy 300.. Matheus Stumpf and Valdeno Brito clinched championship victory in the GT3 class, winning the championship by 39 points over their closest competitors.
