GO!GO!7188
GO!GO!7188 (Go Go Nana Ichi Hachi Hachi), also known simply as Gogo, was a Japanese rock band with influences spanning from surf rock to punk rock to enka. History In June 1998, Yumi Nakashima (nicknamed Yuu) and Akiko Hamada (nicknamed Akko), both alumnae of the same year at Shoyo High School in Kagoshima of Kyūshū, formed a band composed of girls, which was the forerunner of GO!GO!7188. When the band broke up in 1999, Yu and Akko formed GO!GO!7188 to participate in the ''Teen's Music Festival'', sponsored by Yamaha. They didn't win the grand prize, but they signed to the talent agencbreast/milia Turkey then joined GoGo as a drummer, and the band then signed with major label Capitol Music (Toshiba-EMI). Akiko Noma
, best known as Akko, was the bassist, back-up vocalist, and lyricist of GO!GO!7188. She has also released two solo albums under her maiden name . She sings, writes lyrics, and composes music. In GO!GO!7188, she seemed to be the most outspoken member; she did most of the talking during their interviews and live shows. History While in high school she met Yuu, who formed ''Jellyfish'', a JUDY AND MARY cover band made-up of five girls including Akiko. , is a Japanese rock band formed in 2005 by Yumi Nakashima, known from the band GO!GO!7188. The band name comes from one sentence of the classical Japanese alphabet “Iroha”, pronounced Chi-ri-nu-ru-wo-wa-ka. History 2005: Beginning Initially, Nakashima was going to produce her second solo album. Through the recording of her previous work which is her first solo album Ten no Mikaku, she recognized that she cannot express herself other than the band-style. So she intended to produce the next solo album with a band. Nakashima wanted to form a serious band which incorporated young power and the band was to be formed. Japan Nite is an annual music event in North America which began in 1996, featuring Japanese rock, pop, and alternative music artists. Originally centered around South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, the event expanded in later years to include multi-city tours of the United States, and has often been the first US performance for the participating artists.
