GM GEM Platform
Global Emerging Markets, better known in acronym form as GEM, is the name of an automotive platform in use by General Motors for various vehicles sold in markets of the Developing country, developing world, where many GM vehicles designed for the United States and wealthier parts of China are too expensive for most consumers. Development of GEM in particular was largely done by GM's joint venture SAIC-GM in China. It was developed by the SAIC-GM, GM-SAIC joint venture Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC). Creating the platform reportedly came at a cost of approximately 5 billion United States dollar, dollars to GM, much of the funds for which were accumulated by exiting several unprofitable markets in Europe and Africa in 2017. PSA EMP1 Platform
Common Modular Platform (CMP) is a modular car platform which is jointly developed and used by French car manufacturer PSA Group (merged into Stellantis since 2021) and Chinese car manufacturer Dongfeng. Debuted in 2018 with the release of the DS 3 Crossback, the platform is mainly used by B-segment (supermini or subcompact) vehicles along with some entry level C-segment vehicles. Chevrolet Tracker (China)
The Chevrolet Tracker is a subcompact crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors since 2019. Positioned as a successor to the Trax (also called the Tracker in several markets), it is produced in Brazil and Argentina for the Latin American market, and in China by SAIC-GM for the Chinese market. The Buick Excelle () is the common name for the subcompact cars marketed by Shanghai General Motors Company Limited () under GM's Buick brand. It is classified as a compact in china, but by international standards it is a subcompact car. The original Buick Excelle (Chinese "Kai Yue") is based on the Daewoo Lacetti developed in South Korea by Daewoo Motors. The Daewoo Lacetti is a compact car manufactured and marketed globally by GM Korea since 2002. The first-generation Lacetti was available as a four-door sedan and five-door station wagon, styled by Pininfarina—and five-door hatchback styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro.
