GM-Gruppen
GM-Gruppen is a Norwegian heritage railway society that restored and operated Scandinavian diesel locomotives from General Motors Electro-Motive Division (GM-EMD). The organisation has restored one EMD G12, one DSB Class MY, one DSB Class MX and two NSB Di 3. Rolling stock The first locomotive acquired by the society was a G12 unit number 7707 from the Swedish Statens Järnvägar (SJ). It was built in 1953 in London, Canada and sold to SJ and numbered T42-205 as the sole G12 used by the company. After it was retired in 1986 it was bought by GM-Gruppen. In 1989 GM-Gruppen agreed to buy two Danish MX/MY units from Danske Statsbaner (DSB), numbered MY-1104 and MX-1040. They were built by NOHAB in 1954 and 1962, respectively. NSB Di 3
NSB Di 3 is a class of 35 diesel-electric locomotives built by NOHAB for the Norwegian State Railways (NSB). The class was built between 1954 and 1969, and delivered in two series, Di 3a and Di 3b. They are based on the Electro-Motive Division F7 and are equipped with EMD 567 engines. They have a distinct bulldog nose and were numbered 602–633 (a-series) and 641–643 (b-series). The locomotives had a prime mover that gives a power output of . The a-series has a Co′Co′ wheel arrangement, while the b-series has (A1A)(A1A). The b-series has higher top speed, but lower tractive effort. The class was the dominant locomotive on NSB's unelectrified lines. It was ordered as part of the company's dieselization of services during the 1950s and 1960s, and was initially used on the three mainline routes of the Bergen, Dovre and Nordland Lines. Norwegian Railway Museum
The Norwegian Railway Museum ( no, Norsk Jernbanemuseum) is located at Hamar in Innlandet county, Norway. It is Norway's national railway museum. History Established in 1896, until 1912 the collection was housed on the second floor of the Hamar Station. The museum is now located at the museum park at Martodden by Lake Mjøsa. The museum and has a unique collection relating to Norwegian railway history. The collection includes several of Norway's oldest station building which have been relocated to the park. The museum also has locomotives and carriages dating back to the very earliest days of the railway in Norway. Locomotive and carriages are displayed indoors and outdoors. NOHAB
NOHAB (Nydqvist & Holm AB) was a manufacturing company based in the city of Trollhättan, Sweden. History The company was founded by Antenor Nydqvist, Johan Magnus Lidström and Carl Olof Holm in 1847 as ''Trollhättans Mekaniska Verkstad'' as a manufacturer of turbines for hydraulic power plants. In 1865, the company made its first steam locomotive and in 1912 the 1,000th locomotive steamed out of the factory. In Nohab's anniversary book "The Thousand Locomotive" from 1912, it's mentioned that the company also manufactured davits for Titanic's lifeboats. In 1916 the company was reconstituted as a limited company and became NOHAB. In 1920, NOHAB received an order of 1000 locomotives from Soviet Russia. Only 500 were delivered between 1921 and 1924. DSB (railway Company)
DSB, an abbreviation of ''Danske Statsbaner'' (, ''Danish State Railways''), is the largest Danish train operating company, and the largest in Scandinavia. While DSB is responsible for passenger train operation on most of the Danish railways, goods transport and railway maintenance are outside its scope. DSB runs a commuter rail system, called the S-train, in the area around the Danish capital, Copenhagen, that connects the different areas and suburbs in the greater metropolitan area. The Swedish State Railways ( sv, Statens Järnvägar) or SJ, originally the Royal Railway Board ( sv, Kungl. Järnvägsstyrelsen), was the former government agency responsible for operating the state-owned railways in Sweden. DSB Class MX
The DSB Class MX is a lightweight, diesel-electric locomotive built by the Swedish company Nydqist & Holm between 1960 and 1962 for the Danish State Railways History After having great success with the MY locos, DSB started to search for a lighter locomotive for some of the smaller stretches on which the MYs were too heavy to run. The first unit, 1001 arrived to Denmark in 1960 and got just as popular as its big-brothers in short time - the first 20 units (1001–1020) produced whilst the last units, 1020-1045 produced . Many of the MXs have been sold to Danish private railways, but some have also been sold to Sweden and some other countries. In Sweden they are called TMX, as diesel locomotive class designations usually begin with T there.
