Agnes Günther
Agnes Günther (born Agnes Breuning, 21 July 1863 – 16 February 1911) was a German writer. Life Agnes Breuning was a daughter of Hermann Otto Breuning, a businessman and banker, and his wife Anna Maria Barrell, who came from England. Agnes attended schools in Geneva and London. In 1887 she married the theologian Rudolf Günther (1856-1936), with whom she had two sons. From 1891 to 1906 her husband was the parish priest of Langenburg, a small town above the river Jagst in the Hohenlohe (district), Hohenlohe district of the then kingdom of Württemberg. The family moved in 1906 to Marburg, where Rudolf Günther was appointed professor of church art. In 1911 Agnes died of a lung disease after a long illness. Edmund Gunter
Edmund Gunter (158110 December 1626), was an English clergyman, mathematician, geometer and astronomer of Welsh descent. He is best remembered for his mathematical contributions which include the invention of the Gunter's chain, the Gunter's quadrant, and the Gunter's scale. In 1620, he invented the first successful analogue device which he developed to calculate logarithmic tangents. He was mentored in mathematics by Reverend Henry Briggs and eventually became a Gresham Professor of Astronomy, from 1619 until his death. Biography Gunter was born in Hertfordshire in 1581. He was educated at Westminster School, and in 1599 he matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford. He took orders, became a preacher in 1614, and in 1615 proceeded to the degree of bachelor in divinity. Robert William Theodore Gunther (23 August 1869 – 9 March 1940) was a historian of science, zoologist, and founder of the Museum of the History of Science, Oxford. Gunther's father, Albert Günther, was Keeper of Zoology at the British Museum in London. Robert Gunther was educated at University College School, attached to University College London.
