German Name
Personal names in German-speaking Europe consist of one or several given names (''Vorname'', plural ''Vornamen'') and a surname (''Nachname, Familienname''). Götz Von Berlichingen
Gottfried "Götz" von Berlichingen (1480 – 23 July 1562), also known as Götz of the Iron Hand, was a German (Franconian) Imperial Knight (''Reichsritter''), mercenary, and poet. He was born around 1480 into the noble family of Berlichingen in modern-day Baden-Württemberg. Götz bought Hornberg Castle (Neckarzimmern) in 1517, and lived there until his death in 1562. He was active in numerous military campaigns during a period of 47 years from 1498 to 1544, including the German Peasants' War, besides numerous feuds; in his autobiography he estimates that he fought 15 feuds in his own name, besides many cases where he lent assistance to his friends, including feuds against the cities of Cologne, Ulm, Augsburg and the Swabian League, as well as the bishop of Bamberg. Simone de Montmollin (née Götz; born 20 July 1968) is a Swiss politician, businesswoman, and oenologist. She began her career in the medical field, working for the European Society of Cardiology before founding her own medical communications company, Götz & Cie Cardio Diffusion, in 1991. Rainald Maria Goetz (born 24 May 1954, in Munich) is a German author, playwright and essayist. Biography After studying History and Medicine in Munich and earning a degree (PhD and M.D) in each, he soon concentrated on his writing. His first published works, especially his novel ''Irre'' ("Insane"), published in 1983, made him a cult author of the intellectual left. To the delight of his fans and the dismay of some critics, he mixed neo-expressionist writing with social realism in the vein of Alfred Döblin and the fast pace of British pop writers such as Julie Burchill. Paul Götz (1883–1962) was a German astronomer and discoverer of 20 minor planets between 1903 and 1905. He did his Ph.D. dissertation in 1907 at the ''Landessternwarte Heidelberg-Königstuhl'' (Königstuhl Observatory, near Heidelberg) at the University of Heidelberg. At the time, the observatory at Heidelberg was a center for asteroid discovery under the direction of Max Wolf, and several past and future fellow Ph.D.s (Raymond Smith Dugan, Joseph Helffrich, Franz Kaiser, Karl Reinmuth, Emil Ernst, Alfred Bohrmann) made a number of asteroid discoveries. Johann Nikolaus Götz (July 9, 1721 – November 4, 1781) was a German poet from Worms. Biography Götz was born in Worms. He studied theology at Halle (1739–1742), where he became intimate with the poets Johann W. L. Sir Frank Leon Aroha Götz (12 September 1892 – 14 September 1970) was a New Zealand politician of the National Party. Noted as a colourful character, he was commonly referred to by parliamentary colleagues as "the pirate" as he wore a black patch over a missing eye. He received his education in France (at the insistence of his Alsatian father) and at King's College, Wanganui Collegiate School, and Otago University. He was a rubber planter in Malaya from 1913. Franz Götz (born 16 September 1945 in Ingolstadt, Germany) is a German politician. He was a member of the state parliament of Bavaria for the SPD from 1978 to 2003. In 2007, he left the SPD and joined the Free Voters. Early life Götz attended the Reuchlin Gymnasium school in Ingolstadt, where he obtained his ''Abitur''. After leaving school, Götz studied Engineering in Saarbrücken, Trier, and Munich. He passed his general civil engineering examination in 1968 and obtained an additional qualification in civil engineering business administration in 1970. He was then employed in industry for two years. He then studied to be a teacher in the subjects Construction and Ergonomics at occupational schools, passing the first and second ''Staatsexamen'' in 1973 and 1975, respectively. William B. Goetz (March 24, 1903 – August 15, 1969) was an American film producer and studio executive. Goetz was one of the founders of Twentieth Century Pictures, and later served as vice president of 20th Century Fox after the merger with the Fox Film Company. At Universal-International, he was the head of production from 1946. Early life Born to a Jewish working-class family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Goetz was the youngest of eight children. His mother died when he was ten years old and shortly thereafter his father abandoned the family.
