Gölcük is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Ödemiş, İzmir Province, Turkey. Its population is 1,305 (2022). Before the 2013 reorganisation, it was a town (''belde''). Ödemiş
ÖdemiÅŸ is a district of Ä°zmir Province of Turkey, as well as the name of its central town (urban population 75,577 as of 2012), located 113 km southeast of the city of Ä°zmir. About 4 km north of ÖdemiÅŸ town are the ruins of Hypaepa. The historical importance of the region is also reflected by the small town of Birgi, east of ÖdemiÅŸ, which was the capital of the Aydınids, which has examples of Seljuq and Ottoman architecture. Birgi has been on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list since 1994, and points of interest here include ÇakıraÄŸa Mansion, Ä°mam-i Birgivi Medrese and SultanÅŸah Mausoleum. ÖdemiÅŸ is famous for its potatoes, which has the best quality in Turkey, as well as its "ÖdemiÅŸ Kebab". İzmir Province ( tr, İzmir ili) is a province and metropolitan municipality of Turkey in western Anatolia, situated along the Aegean coast. Its capital is the city of İzmir, which is in itself composed of the province's central 11 districts out of 30 in total. 2013 Turkish Local Government Reorganisation
Municipalities ( tr, belediyeler) are the basic units of local government in Turkey. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute the population of Turkey was 76,667,864 as of 31 December 2013. The majority of the population live in settlements with municipalities. The number of municipalities in Turkey was 2,947 in 2009. But in 2013, most of the small town ( tr, belde) municipalities were merged to district ( tr, ilçe) municipalities by the Act 6360 which came into effect at the 2014 local elections sharply decreased the number of municipalities to 1,394. Belde
Belde (literally "town", also known as ''kasaba'') means "large village with a municipality" in Turkish. All Turkish province centers and district centers have municipalities, but the villages (and also subdistricts) are usually too small to have municipalities. The population in some villages may exceed 2000 and in such villages a small municipality may be established depending on residents' choice. Such villages are called ''belde''. Up to 2014 the number of ''belde'' municipalities was about 1400. However, on 30 March 2014 by the act no. 6360 all villages (those with and without municipality) were included in the urban fabric of the district municipalities in 30 provinces. Thus ''belde'' municipalities in 30 provinces were abolished. The number of abolished ''belde'' municipalities is 1040. Salihli
Salihli is a large town and district of Manisa Province in the Aegean region of Turkey. Geography The city of Salihli, the seat of the district, is located on İzmir-Ankara (E 96) highway and the parallel railway connections. The urban zone is situated on the slopes of Bozdağ mountain chain along the southern alluvial plains of the Gediz River. To the north and northeast of the plain extend two other mountain ranges, respectively those of the mounts Dibek (highest altitude 1120 m) and Üşümüş (highest altitude 1085 m). The town lies at an altitude of 125 meters from the sea level. Its advantageous location, smooth and busy intercity connections and the fertile soil allowed Salihli to develop extremely well in the recent past. Yayla (resort)
Yayla is a name given to the summer mountain resorts in Turkey. Etymology Nomadic herdsmen of Turkic origin used to call their herding locations by different names depending on the season. '' Yazlak'', ''yaylak'', ''güzlek'' and ''kışlak'' referred to herding locations of different seasons of the year. But out of the four, yayla and kışla (with the last letter dropped) are more widespread. Kışla (from ''kış'' meaning winter) refers to relatively warmer places in the plains and yayla refers to mountain slopes where the pasturing is easier during the summer. (see Alpine meadow.)
