Górecki (song)
"Górecki" is a 1997 single by Lamb from their debut album ''Lamb''. The song samples the second movement of Henryk Górecki's Third Symphony, the ''Symphony of Sorrowful Songs''. The song has been featured in numerous TV shows, movies and video games, including the 2006 ''Torchwood'' episode "They Keep Killing Suzie" and the 1998 slasher film '' I Still Know What You Did Last Summer''. The opening lines were sung by Nicole Kidman's character Satine in the 2001 movie ''Moulin Rouge!'' It was also used for the launch trailer for ''Crystal Dynamics game '' Tomb Raider: Underworld'' in 2008, and featured prominently in a daydream sequence of the first episode of '' Night and Day'', a 2001 ITV serial drama. The song was also mentioned and featured in an episode of soap opera ''Hollyoaks'', transmitted on 10th November 2010. The song peaked at No. 30 on the UK Singles Chart. Lamb (electronic Band)
Lamb are an English electronic music duo from Manchester, whose music is influenced by trip hop, drum and bass and jazz. The duo consist of producer Andy Barlow and singer-songwriter Lou Rhodes. They achieved commercial success with the hit singles " Górecki" and "Gabriel". Biography On the basis of three songs, Barlow and Rhodes signed a six-album deal with Mercury Records in 1995. They released their first album, the self-titled ''Lamb'' in September 1996, and followed this up with another three albums and a cache of singles over the next eight years, culminating in the release of a greatest hits album, '' Best Kept Secrets'', in June 2004. While they seemed destined for stardom, it seemed to evade them and during the early 2000s they lost momentum and played live only sporadically. Still, a 2004 tour produced memorable shows. Global Communication is an electronic music act, consisting of Tom Middleton and Mark Pritchard. Biography Global Communication's first LP, '' 76:14'', is an acclaimed album from the ambient and 1990s electronic music genres. Beyond their work as Global Communication, they have also recorded as Jedi Knights, Secret Ingredients, The Chameleon, Link & E621, and Reload; have done remixes for various artists under each of their aliases, including a 1993 Reload remix of "On" by Aphex Twin and a 1997 Jedi Knights remix of "Home" by Depeche Mode. Their song 5:23 from their album 76:14 features on the Grand Theft Auto 4 radio station The Journey. They founded the Evolution Records and Universal Language Productions labels. Jimpster
Jimpster (a.k.a. Audiomontage, a.k.a. Franc Spangler, real name Jamie Odell) is a British deep house producer and DJ. Together with Tom Roberts, he founded the labels Freerange Records and Delusions of Grandeur. While producing his own tracks and playing live shows, Jimpster has also worked on remixes, including a remix of the song 400 years by Bob Marley. History Born into a musical family, Jimpster was influenced and encouraged by his father Roger Odell who is the drummer in the jazz-funk band Shakatak. It was there that he was first exposed to electronic synthesizers and recording equipment at around age 10. He also has two children named Stan & Spike (Aged 16 & 13) He started Freerange records in 1996, a label that has since found a niche in deep house with artists like Shur-I-Kan and Milton Jackson. Kruder & Dorfmeister, named after members Peter Kruder and Richard Dorfmeister, is an Austrian duo, known for their trip hop/downtempo remixes of pop, hip hop and drum and bass songs. Nicholas Bracegirdle (born 28 February 1971), known professionally as Chicane, is an English musician, composer, songwriter, and record producer.
