Gérard Lanvin
Gérard Lanvin (; born 21 June 1950) is a César Award-winning French actor. He quit his studies when he was 17 to become an actor. He took on a role in '' Vous n'aurez pas l'Alsace et la Lorraine'' in 1977 on an offer from the actor Coluche. He received the Prix Jean Gabin in 1982 for his role in '' Une étrange affaire''. In 1995 he won a César Award for Best Actor with '' Le Fils préféré''. Other appearances include '' Une semaine de vacances'' and ''3 zéros''. 2008 Cannes Film Festival
The 61st Annual Cannes Film Festival was held from 14 to 25 May 2008. The President of the Official Jury was American actor and director Sean Penn. Twenty two films from fourteen countries were selected to compete for the ''Palme d'Or''. The awards were announced on 24 May. The film '' The Class'' (''Entre les murs''), directed by Laurent Cantet won the ''Palme d'Or''. The festival opened with ''Blindness'', directed by Fernando Meirelles and closed with '' What Just Happened'', directed by Barry Levinson. Édouard Baer was the master of ceremonies. Pierre Granier-Deferre (27 July 1927 – 16 November 2007) was a French film director and screenwriter His 1971 film ''Le Chat'' (The Cat) won the Best Actor and Best Actress awards at the 21st Berlin International Film Festival. His 1964 film ''The Adventures of Salavin'' won the Silver Shell for Best Actor at the 12th San Sebastian International Film Festival. Family Granier-Deferre married Annie Fratellini, who starred in his film ''La Métamorphose des cloportes''. They had one daughter, Valerie. He had two children with his second wife, Susan Hampshire, an English actress: a son, Christopher, a producer/director, and a daughter, Victoria, who died shortly after birth. Granier-Deferre is also the father of Denys Granier-Deferre, a director/actor, whose mother is Denise Leve. Alain Corneau
Alain Corneau (7 August 1943 – 30 August 2010) was a French film director and writer. Corneau was born in Meung-sur-Loire, Loiret. Originally a musician, he worked with Costa-Gavras as an assistant, which was also his first opportunity to work with the actor Yves Montand, with whom he would collaborate three times later in his career, including '' Police Python 357'' (1976) and '' La Menace'' (1977). He directed Gérard Depardieu in the screen adaptation of ''Tous les matins du monde'' in 1991. Corneau died in Paris on 30 August 2010 from cancer, aged 67 and was interred at Père Lachaise Cemetery. Jacques Bral (21 September 1948 – 17 January 2021) was a French film director, screenwriter, and producer. He was also a painter. Biography After his studies at Alborz High School in Tehran, Bral left Iran in 1966 for France. From 1966 to 1968, he studied architecture at Beaux-Arts de Paris and codirected the short film ''Quand tout le monde est parti'' with Julien Lévi and Jean-Paul Leca. He then directed feature films ''M-88'' in 1970 and ''Frisou'' in 1973, both in black and white. In 1975, he directed ''Une baleine qui avait mal aux dents'', which starred Francis Blanche and Bernadette Lafont. In 1978, Bral founded the production company Les Films Noirs, which was responsible for the release of ''Extérieur, nuit'' in 1980. It was remastered for the Lumière Film Festival in Lyon in 2009, and a rerelease into theaters occurred on 27 June 2010. Bertrand Tavernier (25 April 1941 – 25 March 2021) was a French director, screenwriter, actor and producer. Life and career Tavernier was born in Lyon, France, the son of Geneviève (née Dumond) and René Tavernier, a publicist and writer, several years president of the French PEN club. He said his father's publishing of a wartime resistance journal and aid to anti-Nazi intellectuals shaped his moral outlook as an artist. According to Tavernier, his father believed that words were "as important and as lethal as bullets". Tavernier wanted to become a filmmaker from the age of 13 or 14 years.
