Gyula Krúdy
Gyula Krúdy (21 October 1878 – 12 May 1933) was a Hungarian writer and journalist. Biography Gyula Krúdy was born in Nyíregyháza, Austria-Hungary. His father was a lawyer and his mother was a maid working for the Krúdy family. His parents did not marry until Gyula was 17 years old. In his teens, Krúdy published newspaper pieces and began writing short stories. Although his father wanted him to become a lawyer, Krúdy worked as an editor at provincial newspapers (Debrecen, Nagyvárad) for several years, then moved to Budapest in 1896. He was disinherited, but supported his wife (also a writer) and three children through the publication of short stories, along with novels that were almost always serialized in daily papers and periodicals. ''Sinbad's Youth'', published in 1911, proved a success, and Krúdy used the character, a man who shared the name of the hero of the '' Arabian Nights'', many times throughout his career. Ferenc Márton
Ferenc Márton (15 December 1884 – 8 June 1940) was a Hungarian painter and graphic artist born in Csíkszentgyörgy (now Ciucsângeorgiu, Romania). He was a student of Bertalan Székely and the teacher of Adrienn Henczné Deák. Biography Ferenc Márton was a disciple of Bertalan Székely and László Hegedűs. In 1908 he won the third prize of a poster competition. He became known primarily for his illustrations in ''Érdekes Újság''. He was the portraitist of the ''Magyarság'' newspaper and between the two world wars a collaborator of the far-right side newspaper '' Új Magyarság''. Sándor Márai
(; Archaic English name: Alexander Márai; 11 April 1900 – 21 February 1989) was a Hungarian writer, poet, and journalist. Biography Márai was born on 11 April 1900 in the city of Kassa, Hungary (now Košice, Slovakia). Through his father, he was a relative of the Hungarian noble Országh family. In 1919, he was an enthusiastic supporter of the Hungarian Soviet Republic and worked as a journalist. He joined the Communists, becoming the founder of the "Activist and Anti-National Group of Communist Writers". After the fall of the Hungarian Soviet Republic, his family found it safer to leave the country, thus he continued his studies in Leipzig. Márai travelled to and lived in Frankfurt, Berlin, and Paris and briefly considered writing in German, but eventually chose his mother language, Hungarian, for his writings.
