Gymnastics At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Women's Artistic Individual All-around
The women's artistic individual all-around competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was held at the Arena Olímpica do Rio on 11 August. Simone Biles and Aly Raisman of the United States finished first and second in qualifications and then won the gold and silver medals in the event final. It was the fourth consecutive Olympic gold for the United States in this event. Defending Olympic individual all-around champion from 2012 Gabby Douglas also of the United States qualified third, and due to the strict "2 per country" policy in event finals, she did not advance. Biles had won the individual all-around at the last three World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in 2013, 2014, and 2015. Jeunesse Arena is an indoor multi-purpose arena, located in the region of Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is named for the American cosmetics company Jeunesse Global through a naming rights deal closed in 2017. Before, the sponsor name was HSBC Arena. Seda Gurgenovna Tutkhalyan (russian: Седа Гургеновна Тутхалян, hy, Սեդա Գուրգենի Թութխալյան; born 15 July 1999) is a Russian artistic gymnast. She is the 2014 Youth Olympic Games Individual All-around champion and a 2016 Summer Olympics Team silver medalist. Personal life Tutkhalyan was born July 15, 1999 in Gyumri, Armenia, and moved to Moscow early in childhood. Her father, Gurgen Tutkhalyan, was a four-time world champion for the Soviet Union in sambo martial arts, and her older brother, Vaik, currently competes for Belarus in the same sport. Shang Chunsong
Shang Chunsong (; born 18 March 1996) is a senior elite Chinese artistic gymnast. She represented China at the 2013, 2014, and 2015 World Championships and was a member of the Chinese silver-medal-winning teams at the latter two events. Shang was the captain of the bronze-medal-winning team at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she placed 4th in the individual all-around competition. Flávia Lopes Saraiva (born September 30, 1999) is a Brazilian artistic gymnast. She represented Brazil at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Lieke Wevers (born 17 September 1991) is a Dutch Artistic gymnastics, artistic gymnast. Giulia Steingruber (born 24 March 1994) is a retired Swiss artistic gymnast. She is the 2016 Olympic and 2017 World bronze medalist on vault. Additionally she is the 2015 European all-around champion, a four-time European vault champion (2013, 2014, 2016, and 2021) and the 2016 European floor exercise champion. Asuka Teramoto
is a Japanese gymnast. Teramoto was born in Komaki, Aichi. Her first major international senior competition was the 2011 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Tokyo, Japan. In the team all-around finals, she contributed on vaulting, uneven bars, and balance beam towards the Japanese team's 7th-place finish. She also qualified for the uneven bars final in 8th place. Elisabeth Seitz (born 4 November 1993) is a German artistic gymnast. She is the 2022 European champion and the 2018 World bronze medalist on the uneven bars.
