Gymnastics At The 2004 Summer Olympics – Women's Rhythmic Group All-around
These are the results of the rhythmic group all-around competition, one of the two events of the rhythmic gymnastics discipline contested in the gymnastics at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. The qualification and final rounds took place on August 26 and August 28 at the Galatsi Olympic Hall. Results Ten national teams, each composed by six gymnasts, competed in the group all-around event in the rhythmic gymnastics qualification round on August 26. The eight highest scoring teams advanced to the final on August 28. Galatsi Olympic Hall
The Galatsi Olympic Hall is a multi-use list of indoor arenas, indoor arena that is located in Galatsi, Athens, Greece. It was the site of Table Tennis at the 2004 Summer Olympics, table tennis and Gymnastics at the 2004 Summer Olympics, rhythmic gymnastics at the 2004 Summer Olympics. The Galatsi Olympic Hall has a seating capacity of 6,200, which includes 5,141 permanent seats in the upper tier, and the removable lower tier seats. History The arena was completed in May 2004, and officially opened on July 30, 2004, shortly before the beginning of the 2004 Summer Olympic Games. After the 2004 Olympics, Galatsi Olympic Hall served as the home court of the Greek Basketball League club AEK BC, before the team moved to the larger Olympic Indoor Hall in 2006. Galina Tancheva
Galina Tancheva ( bg, Галина Танчева; born 18 May 1987 in Varna) is a retired Bulgarian rhythmic gymnast. She contributed to a silver medal effort for the Bulgarian squad in the group all-around at the 2003 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, and later added a bronze to her career hardware in the same program at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Tancheva is also the twin sister of fellow rhythmic gymnast Vladislava Tancheva. Career Tancheva made her official debut, along with her twin sister Vladislava, at the 2003 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, where she captured the silver medal for the Bulgarian squad in the group all-around tournament with a composite score of 50.175. Dai Yongjun
Dai Yongjun (born 10 December 1984) is a Chinese retired rhythmic gymnast. Career Yongjun took up rhythmic gymnastics in 1992 in Liaoning. In 1996, she was selected into the Liaoning Provincial Rhythmic Gymnastics team. From 1999 to 2003 she won several medals at the Chinese National Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships. In 2003 she was selected for the World Championships in Budapest as a member of the national group, they finished in 7th place in the All-Around (getting a ticket for the following year's Olympics) and took 4th place in the 5 ribbons' final. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, three disciplines of gymnastics were contested: artistic gymnastics (August 14–23), rhythmic gymnastics (August 26–29) and trampoline (August 20–21). Rhythmic Gymnastics
Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport in which gymnasts perform on a floor with an apparatus: hoop, ball, clubs, ribbon. The sport combines elements of gymnastics, dance and calisthenics; gymnasts must be strong, flexible, agile, dexterous and coordinated. Rhythmic gymnastics is governed by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), which first recognized it as a sport in 1963.
