Gymnasia Balfour
Ironi Alef High School ( he, תיכון עירוני א'), previously Gymnasia Balfour (), is a notable high school located in Tel Aviv, Israel. Also known as Aleph High School of Arts Tel Aviv-Yafo. History Gymnasia Balfour The Gymnasia Balfour was founded in 1931 by Alexander Koler as a private gymnasium, Real Balfour Gymnasia ( he, הגימנסיה הריאלית בלפור). Koler decided to build the gymnasium similar in spirit to those in Europe which would provide its students education in Hebrew that would allow them to enter a university. He had previously managed a government-run gymnasium in Galicia (modern-day Poland). The school was situated on Mazeh Street in Tel Aviv, near the water tower. David Libai ( he, דוד ליבאי, born 22 October 1934) is an Israeli jurist and former politician. He was a member of the Knesset for Israeli Labor Party, Labour from 1984 to 1996, and served as Justice Minister of Israel, Minister of Justice from 1992 to 1996. Israel Yeivin (Hebrew: ישראל ייבין) (born January 7, 1923 in Berlin – died December 19, 2008) was an Israeli linguist, scholar of Masorah and the Hebrew language. Biography Israel Yeivin was born in Berlin. His family immigrated to Palestine when he was seven, and he grew up in Tel Aviv. His father, Yehoshua Yeivin, was a conceptual philosopher of the Revisionist Zionism movement and founder of the radical Zionist group Brit HaBirionim. His mother was Miryam Atara Margolin. Rafael Vardi (Also spelled Raphael Vardi; he, רפאל ורדי; 1922 – 25 December 2016) was Israel Defense Forces Major General and former head of the Manpower Directorate. Vardi was also the Chief Military Police Officer from 1960 to 1962. Biography Born in Łódź, Poland, Vardi immigrated to Israel in 1932.
