Inkworld Trilogy
The ''Inkheart'' series is a succession of four fantasy novels written by German author Cornelia Funke, comprising ''Inkheart'' (2003), ''Inkspell'' (2005), ''Inkdeath'' (2007), and ''The Colour of Revenge'' (2023). The books chronicle the adventures of teen Meggie Folchart whose life changes dramatically when she realizes that she and her father, a bookbinder named Mo, have the unusual ability to bring characters from books into the real world when reading aloud. Mostly set in Northern Italy and the Parallel universe (fiction), parallel world of the fictional ''Inkheart'' book, the central story arc concerns the magic of books, their characters and creatures, and the art of reading. Originally released in German-speaking Europe, the English translation of the third book, entitled ''Inkdeath'', by Anthea Bell was released in October 2008. Aaron Gwin
Aaron Holmes Gwin (born December 24, 1987) is an American professional downhill mountain biker from Morongo Valley, California. He is a five-time World Cup overall champion. Race career Aaron Gwin started his cycling career racing BMX from the age of 4. By age 8, Gwin was racing at a national level. At age 12, Gwin moved on to motocross and raced up until he was 17, when he quit due to constant injuries. In 2008, at age 20, Gwin was loaned a bike by fellow professional downhill racer and good friend Cody Warren and was encouraged to compete in a race. In his first race in the Fontana Winter Series, he placed 3rd, and began racing from then on, quickly signing with Yeti Cycles. He became well-known for breaking into the international World Cup scene after only 8 months of riding downhill. Lucy Gwin
Lucy Gwin (January 5, 1943 – October 30, 2014) was an American disability rights activist. She published ''Mouth'', a disability rights magazine. Early life and education Gwin was born in Beech Grove, Indiana, the daughter of Robert Willard Gwin and Verna Bodine Gilcher Gwin. Her father worked in advertising and her mother was a teacher who later designed window displays for department stores. She graduated from Thomas Carr Howe Community High School in Indianapolis in 1960. Career Gwin ran a restaurant in Rochester, New York and wrote advertising copy as a young woman. She wrote a "strong and vivid" memoir, ''Going Overboard'' (1982), about her year spent working on an oil rig ferry in the Gulf of Mexico. She was working on another book, tentatively titled ''The Marriage Conspiracy'', and lecturing on the subject of marriage, in the mid-1980s. Gwin was disabled following a car accident in 1989. Robert Gwin (fl. 1591) was a Welsh Roman Catholic priest and author. Life Gwin was from the diocese of Bangor in Wales, and received his education at Corpus Christi College, Oxford, where he was admitted to the degree of B.A. on 9 July 1568. In 1573 he went to the English College at Douay and studied divinity. He was ordained priest in 1575, and sent back to Wales on the mission on 16 January 1575-6, having just before that date taken the degree of B.D. in the university of Douay. He lived chiefly in Wales, and was much esteemed for his talent in preaching. A document in the archives of the English College at Rome says that he ‘tam scriptis quam laboribus maximum in afflictissimam patriam auxilium contulit’.
