Gwen Jorgensen
Gwen Rosemary Jorgensen (born April 25, 1986, in Waukesha, Wisconsin) is an American distance runner and former professional triathlete. She is the 2014 and 2015 ITU World Triathlon Series Champion. She has been named USA Triathlon's 2013 and 2014 Olympic/ITU Female Athlete of the Year. She was a member of the 2012 Olympic Team and again represented the United States in triathlon at the 2016 Summer Olympics, where she won the USA's first ever triathlon gold medal with a time of 1 hour, 56 minutes, and 16 seconds. Career Jorgensen attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she swam and ran for the Badgers. She earned a master's degree in accounting, passed the CPA exam, and worked for Ernst & Young in Milwaukee as a tax accountant. 2013 ITU World Triathlon Series
The 2013 ITU World Triathlon Series was a series of eight World Championship Triathlon events that led up to a Grand Final held in London in September 2013. The Series was organised under the auspices of the world governing body of triathlon, the International Triathlon Union (ITU). The World Triathlon Series (WTS) visited Auckland, San Diego, Madrid, Yokohama, Kitzbühel, Hamburg, Stockholm, and London. The series included two sprint distance races and six Olympic distance races. The series stop in Hamburg also served as the location for the 2013 ITU Team Triathlon World Championships. The Grand Final in London included the World Championships for Under 23, Junior and Paratriathlon division, which were decided over a single race. Triathlon At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's
The women's triathlon was one of the triathlon events at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom. It took place on 4 August 2012, featuring 55 women from 31 countries. It was the fourth appearance of an Olympic women's triathlon event since the first at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. The race was around Hyde Park, a 1.42 km2 park in central London. The race was held over the "international distance" (also called "Olympic distance") and consisted of swimming, road cycling, and road running. A sub-twenty degree Celsius Serpentine River met the athletes in the swimming discipline. A group of seven finished the swim leg in a lead group. The , officially the and also known as , was an international multi-sport event held from 23 July to 8 August 2021 in Tokyo, Japan, with some preliminary events that began on 21 July. Tokyo was selected as the host city during the 125th IOC Session in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 7 September 2013.
