Gwen Berry
Gwendolyn Denise Berry (born June 29, 1989) is an American track and field athlete who specializes in the hammer throw. Her mark of on June 8, 2018, ranks her #7 on the all time list. She also holds the world record in the weight throw with a mark of set in March 2017. She is a three-time national champion in the weight throw at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships. She was the gold medalist in the hammer at the 2014 Pan American Sports Festival. She is also the 2019 Pan American Games Champion. Career Early life and college Gwen Berry was born to Michael Berry and Laura Hayes; she grew up in Florissant, Missouri and attended McCluer High School. While there she was a basketball player but started taking part in track in the off-season and competed in the triple jump. Track And Field
Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The women's hammer throw competition of the Track and field, athletics events at the 2019 Pan American Games took place on the 10th of August at the 2019 Pan American Games Athletics Stadium. Jeneva Stevens (née McCall, born October 28, 1989) is an American track and field athlete specializing in the shot put and hammer throw. Her biggest successes to date are the gold medal at the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan and 9th place at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow. She studied at Southern Illinois University. Heather Steacy (born April 14, 1988 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian track and field athlete competing in the hammer throw. She competed in the hammer throw event at the 2012 Summer Olympics where she finished 34th. All-America
The All-America designation is an annual honor bestowed upon an amateur sports person from the United States who is considered to be one of the best amateurs in their sport. Individuals receiving this distinction are typically added to an All-America team for their sport. Some sports will have multiple All-America teams and will list the honorees as members of a first team, second team, or third team. As such, All-America teams are composed of outstanding US amateur players. Individuals falling short of qualifying for the honor may receive All-America honorable mention. Southern Illinois Salukis
The Southern Illinois Salukis are the varsity athletic teams representing Southern Illinois University Carbondale. The nickname comes from the Saluki, the Royal Dog of Egypt and the Persian greyhound, which ties into the fact that southern Illinois has had the nickname " Little Egypt" for just under 200 years.
