Guy H. Jones
Guy Hamilton "Mutt" Jones Sr. (June 29, 1911 – August 10, 1986) was an American politician and lawyer. Born in Conway, Arkansas, Jones graduated from Hendrix College in 1932; he received his law degree in 1935 from the William H. Bowen School of Law and then practiced law in Conway, Arkansas. During World War II, he served in the United States Army in Europe. From 1946 to 1974, Jones served in the Arkansas State Senate. Jones was convicted of federal income tax evasion in 1973 and was fined $5,000. He was then expelled from the Arkansas Senate in 1974. Jones was succeeded by Stanley Russ Otis Stanley Russ (August 31, 1930 – January 5, 2017) was an American politician who served in the Arkansas Senate from 1975 until 2001. Conway is a city in the U.S. state of Arkansas and the county seat of Faulkner County, located in the state's most populous Metropolitan Statistical Area, Central Arkansas. Although considered a suburb of Little Rock, Conway is unusual in that the majority of its residents do not commute out of the city to work. The city also serves as a regional shopping, educational, work, healthcare, sports, and cultural hub for Faulkner County and surrounding areas. Conway's growth can be attributed to its jobs in technology and higher education; among its largest employers being Acxiom, the University of Central Arkansas, Hendrix College, Insight Enterprises, and many technology start-up companies. Hendrix College
Hendrix College is a private liberal arts college in Conway, Arkansas. Approximately 1,000 students are enrolled, mostly undergraduates. While affiliated with the United Methodist Church, the college offers a secular curriculum and has a student body composed of people from many different religious backgrounds. Hendrix is a member of the Associated Colleges of the South. History Hendrix College was founded as a primary school called Central Institute in 1876 at Altus, Arkansas, by Rev. Isham L. Burrow. In 1881 it was renamed Central Collegiate Institute when secondary and collegiate departments were added. The next year the first graduating collegiate class, composed of three women, were awarded Mistress of English Literature degrees.
