Guy Bedarida
Guy Bedarida (born 1963) is an Italian-born French jewelry designer, former Head Designer for the American branch of Van Cleef & Arpels and former Creative Director and Head Designer for the John Hardy (jewelry), John Hardy brand. His work is colorful and references European and Asian design traditions. Bedarida, who is of French-Italian parentage, grew up between Tuscany, Rome, and Paris. He was educated at the European Institute of Design and Communication in Rome, where he majored in jewelry and fashion design. He started out working as a jewelry designer on the Place Vendôme in Paris, most notably for the house of Boucheron. Afterwards, he became Head Designer for the American branch of Van Cleef and Arpels, where his exclusive and unique designs were worn by movie stars and celebrities. Van Cleef & Arpels is a French high-end luxury jewelry company. It was founded in 1896 by the Dutch diamond-cutter Alfred Van Cleef and his father-in-law Salomon Arpels in Paris. The Place Vendôme (), earlier known as Place Louis-le-Grand, and also as Place Internationale, is a square in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, France, located to the north of the Tuileries Gardens and east of the Église de la Madeleine. Boucheron () is a French luxury jewellery and watches house located in Paris, 26 Place Vendôme, owned by Kering. History At the origins The House of Boucheron is a French family dynasty founded by Frederic Boucheron in 1858, with the opening of his first store in the Galerie de Valois, at Palais-Royal, during the heyday of the Second French Empire. He created his atelier in 1866 and a year later won the Gold Medal during the Exposition Universelle (1867). Paul Legrand (1840-1910) worked as the chief designer for the house of Boucheron from 1863-1867, and again 1871-1892. Lost-wax casting (also called "investment casting", "precision casting", or ''cire perdue'' which has been adopted into English from the French, ) is the process by which a duplicate metal sculpture (often silver, gold, brass, or bronze) is cast from an original sculpture. Intricate works can be achieved by this method.
