Gussie Mueller
Gustave "Gussie" Mueller (April 17, 1890 – December 16, 1965) was an early jazz clarinetist. The New Orleans, Louisiana-born Mueller was a top clarinetist with Papa Jack Laine's bands in New Orleans before going to Chicago, Illinois with Tom Brown's band in early 1915. After serving in the Army in World War I he moved to California and joined the early Paul Whiteman Orchestra, with which he moved to New York City. He helped give the Whiteman band a touch of the Dixieland jazz style. One of the Whiteman Orchestra's early hit records, as well as one of the unfortunately few recordings where Mueller can be heard prominently, is Wang Wang Blues which Mueller dominates in a style similar to Larry Shields. Mueller also shares composer credit on "Wang Wang". According to Whiteman, Mueller was reluctant to learning how to read music, for fear that it would impair his abilities as a "hot player". Gustav (or Gustave) Adolph Mueller (October 14, 1864 – 1937) was a German-American architect, engineer, and sculptor active in Detroit, Michigan. Mueller was born October 14, 1864, in Dresden, to Johanna C. and Johan G. Mueller. He was educated in Dresden, Munich and Berlin, and also served for the required period in the German army. He worked as an architect in Germany, Italy and Paris and subsequently went to Panama on the engineering for the French government. He came to Detroit in 1893, where his designs include the Cadillac Theatre, the marble altar at Saints Peter and Paul Church, and, in conjunction with Herman A. Gustav Emil Mueller
Gustav Emil Mueller (12 May 1898 – 10 July 1987) was a Swiss philosopher and Hegelian scholar. Mueller was born in Bern, Switzerland, and received a doctorate in philosophy in 1923 from the University of Bern. He studied also at the University of Heidelberg. After teaching in European universities and joining the faculty of the University of Oregon in 1925, he became a professor of philosophy at the University of Oklahoma in 1930 where he remained on the faculty until his retirement in 1968. He then returned to Bern, where he continued to work and write until the end of his life. Gustave Moeller (1881– February 11, 1931) was an American-born artist who was most well known for painting, especially painting American towns and villages.'Gustave Moeller, Famous Landscape Painter, Dies,' Wisconsin State Journal, February 12, 1931, pg. 6 Education Moeller was born in New Holstein, Wisconsin, but moved to Milwaukee at a young age. As a teen Moeller attended the Milwaukee Art Students’ League with young artists such as Edward Steichen. Moeller was one of the first students at the Milwaukee Art Students' League. Gustave then took classes at the Chicago Art Institute while working as a commercial engraver. Moeller also attended the Academy of Fine Arts in New York, New York, and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, Germany, where he was taught by Carl von Marr.
