Gustav Hahn
Gustav Hahn (27 July 1866 – 1 December 1962) was a German Canadian painter, muralist and interior decorator who pioneered the Art Nouveau style in Canada. Hahn was also an amateur astronomer, and his father, Otto Hahn, owned a collection of meteorites. Life Hahn was born in Reutlingen, then in the German Confederation. As a young man, he attended art school in Stuttgart. In 1888 he moved to Toronto in Canada, where he started to work as a designer in an interior decorating firm. Hahn painted murals in public buildings such as the Ontario Legislature and the Toronto Old City Hall, as well as churches and residences. Hahn's major works include the depiction of the 1913 Great Meteor Procession (titled ''Meteoric Display of February 9, 1913, as seen near High Park'') and ''Hail Dominion'' (1906). Reutlingen
Reutlingen (; Swabian: ''Reitlenga'') is a city in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is the capital of the eponymous district of Reutlingen. As of June 2018, it has a population of 115,818. Reutlingen has a university of applied sciences, which was founded in 1855, originally as a weavers' school. Today, Reutlingen is home to an established textile industry and also houses machinery, leather goods and steel manufacturing facilities. It has the narrowest street in the world, Spreuerhofstraße (width 31 cm). Geography Reutlingen is located about south of the State capital of Baden-Württemberg, Stuttgart. Emanuel Hahn
Emanuel Otto Hahn (30 May 1881 – 14 February 1957) was a German-born Canadian sculptor and coin designer. He taught and later married Elizabeth Wyn Wood. He co-founded and was the first president of the Sculptors' Society of Canada. Biography Education and training Hahn was born in Reutlingen (today a part of Baden-Württemberg, Germany) and moved to Toronto in 1888 with his family. He studied modelling and commercial design at the Toronto Technical School and Ontario College of Art as well as Industrial Design from 1899-1903. In 1901, he was hired by the McIntosh Marble and Granite Company where he created the bronze reliefs on various monuments. Hahn then went on to study in Stuttgart, Germany in 1903, he pursued art and design at the local school of art and design and the Polytechnical School, and briefly apprenticed in the studio of a sculptor teaching at the academy. Sylvia Hahn (2 May 1911 – 2 January 2001) was a Canadian artist and head of the art department which is at the Royal Ontario Museum. Biography Born on May 2, 1911, in Toronto, Ontario, Sylvia Hahn was known for her uncanny mastery of many crafts.
